The day was as cold as any other. The snow had stopped falling not long ago in the small town of Burgess, Pennsylvania. Children skated on the frozen lakes whilst others had snowball fights and were sledding down hills. Either way, every kid in town had been happy to hear that there would be yet another snow day for them to enjoy and not another god awful day of school.

Grace took in a deep breath and smiled to herself as her bright hazel eyes watched the children running about. No matter the different beliefs of all of the children, today was a good day. If there was one thing Grace knew how to do, it was to have fun.  She hurriedly tugged her army green parka on over her creme colored tee and slim burgundy pants before plummeting back down to the surface of the earth.  She sped through the many trees before passing by buildings upon buildings to get just where she wanted to be.

As the small, brick home came into her line of vision, Grace couldn't help but smile.  Her pale bare feet landed gracefully on the fence that lined the backyard of the small family's home.  A little girl with bright, blonde hair and soft, green eyes stood at the top of the steps, holding tightly onto a dog leash leading to a large Greyhound.  She stood prepared for what winter might throw her way as her mother had just finished clothing her in the thick garments she wore to protect her from the harmful cold.

Across the yard stood a small group of older children, though they still stood a good year or two below teen-hood.  A certain brunette stood out from the rest, seeming to be full of ambition and wonder.  The group of children were about to head off when a sudden voice caused them to turn.  "Easter Bunny! Hop, hop, hop!" The small blonde child chanted whilst she hopped down the stairs, step by step, all while holding onto the long leash.

Before she could say anymore, her foot got caught on the long rope, causing her to tumble forwards, face-first into the cold, hard ground.  Grace winced at the sudden impact and gently began to glide over to the crying child. "Oh, Sophie." She said aloud as she viewed the scenario before her, "That's gonna leave a mark." Her statement wasn't directed at anyone, as she knew better than to believe that any of them would be able to hear her, let alone see her.

"Mom, Sophie fell again!" The short brunette boy called out to his mother whilst turning away and heading off to leave with his friends.

"You okay, Soph?" Their mother asked the little girl as she continued to cry.  After seeing that the little girl would be just fine, the boy's mother walked over to him, "Jamie, hat." She began before plopping the thick beanie onto his head.  "We don't want Jack Frost nipping at your nose."

Jamie looked mildly confused as he repositioned the knit hat upon his head, "Who's Jack Frost?" He asked, watching his mother turn to tend to his crying sister.

"No one, honey. It's just an expression." The woman dismissed, trying to clear up some confusion.  Grace couldn't help but frown at that whilst Jamie nodded in understanding.  Unlike the small family, Grace knew that Jack Frost was, in fact, a person.  Though she couldn't say that she had ever actually met the boy.  Afterwards, Jamie and his friends turned and finally left the yard to head towards the park.

Sophie sat on the ground, still sniffling from the fall.  Her mother swiftly scooped her up off the ground and gently coddled her, hoping to lift her spirits once more.  Without any effort, Grace did an elegant movement with her hand.  Before her appeared a small, bluish snowflake that soared through the air towards Sophie.  She watched as it came closer, before gently landing on her soft nose.  It then burst into a dozen sparkles, each lingering in the air before her.

Her eyes suddenly twinkled a light blue as her crying came to a halt.  Laughter filled the air as her mother placed the little girl back down on her feet once more.  Sophie ran around the yard joyously, all the while chasing and playing with their family dog.  Grace only pushed a short chestnut curl behind her ear and laughed with the girl.  She stayed and watched how adventurous Sophie became whilst playing.  Gently, Grace glided through the air and sat back up onto the fence and observed from afar, seeing just how happy she was.

Almost an hour since then had passed and Sophie was ready to turn in for the night. Jamie had arrived not long after and was greeted by his mother on the back porch.  Grace smiled lightly as she watched the family slowly disappear into the small brick home.  Just as the girl was about to do the same by heading off to her own home, Grace spotted something far off in the distance.  The guardian couldn't mistake the familiar greenish glow in the sky for anything else: the northern lights.  A small gasp left her figure as she began to think of all the possible reasons for North to be calling them together again.  Grace decided against overthinking it before heading off in the general direction because no matter what, she knew that whatever he needed them for would be important.
