Guess I wasn't as smart as I thought.
I used what little energy I had left and jumped. Landed in a pile of leaves. Soft, but not soft enough. I thought they were flowers, wishful thinking. Maybe my vision still sucks.
Where even am I?
Doesn't matter.
The leaves close in, like a swarm.
I can't move.
Eyes shut. Everything's heavy.
I blink, and it's just dark. Everything feels like it's floating, like I'm caught between being here and not.
I thought I had it all figured out. Sacrifice myself, let my brothers go home as heroes.
Thought I could cheat the gods.
I was wrong.
I let Sasuke kill me.
I jumped off that ledge ready to be done with it. But I lived.
Barely.
Landed in a mess of leaves that looked like flowers if you squint hard enough.
My sight's coming back, but everything's still blurry. Still fake.
I close my eyes again.
Try to breathe.
And then it hits me.
I'm still here.
I'm still fucking here.

The silence between them is tense.
Sasuke stands across from Itachi, jaw clenched, fists at his sides.
"You knew," Sasuke says, voice cold. "Right?"
Itachi looks at him, expression unreadable. "I knew something was off. But I didn't know everything."
Sasuke scoffs, "Don't give me that bullshit!" He flings a desk next to Itachi, it shatters against the wall. "You had to know. You were with her. You watched her let me kill her."
"I didn't have a choice in the matter. I had a feeling. But she never said it. Not to me."
Sasuke kicks the wall, jaw tight. Itachi raises a brow.
"She told Obito. Or well he already knew."
"What did he say?"
"That she begged him to keep quiet like she did with Orochimaru. Said it had to be me. That if anyone was gonna kill her, it had to be me." Sasuke turns to face him. "She wanted me to think it was justice. She wanted me to kill her. She wanted me to hate her."
