Roman let out a quiet sigh in time with the front door closing. He nuzzled his cheek against the wonderful heat source pressed against his body. A steady heart beat beneath his ear. Long fingers toyed with the messy strands of hair on the back of his head. A warm hand moved to rest atop his own, absentmindedly tracing over prominent veins.
The delicate touch made goosebumps race up his arms.
"Sorry if that woke you," Jensen muttered, his voice scratchy from disuse. "I've only been up a few minutes myself. Pher just stopped by really quick to borrow some sugar."
"Barely even heard him."
"He didn't want to disturb us. If you're still tired, feel free to sleep a little longer. We don't have to leave just yet."
Roman shook his head. He sat up, rubbing the drowsiness out of his eyes. "It's fine. I'd actually like to stop by The Book Nook to grab some snacks before heading to Kay's."
"Sure."
Stifling a yawn, Roman turned to offer his full attention.
Jensen was lying down on his back with his head propped up against the couch's arm rest. Bouncy curls were untamed, framing his face with various lengths and bundles. Specks of light peeking through the windows colored his skin in vibrant gold. His shirt was a bit ruffled from their nap, revealing a small portion of skin right above his hip. A few undone buttons openly displayed the alluring musculature of his upper chest as well.
Roman let out a thoughtful hum. He silently straddled Jensen's legs and leaned down until his body was shielded by Roman's draped form. Their eyes met as slender fingers traced between the space of Jensen's pecs.
"Hi."
"Hi there," Jensen answered, breathless. "What's up? Do I have sleep lines on me or something?"
"No. Just admiring the view. You're...really beautiful."
His ears turned a soft shade of red. "...Careful with what you say, sweetheart. I might think you're trying to start something."
"If we didn't already have plans, maybe I would."
Jensen let out a cute laugh. He sat them both up, arms circling around Roman's smaller waist. Honey-colored eyes studied icy blue ones. Peering into them brought a pure, blissful expression onto Jensen's face.
His smile widened. His gaze softened.
He didn't have to say that little three word phrase to reveal what he was feeling.
Roman could see those unspoken emotions.
Honestly, he felt stupid for not noticing how intense they were sooner.
Jensen always wore his heart on his sleeve. More so when he focused on Roman. The genuine sincerity in his eyes spoke louder than any statement of affection could.
Roman still held immense guilt in himself for not being able to reciprocate that level of adoration yet. He was learning to be more selfish, though, which, in turn, fueled the strengthening pride he had from being Jensen's one and only love interest.
There were still many uncertainties, but...
Roman would let himself be happy while it lasted.
"So, food?"
"Yeah. If it's okay with you, though, I'd like to sample some dessert first."
Jensen's cheeky smirk brought a silly snort out of Roman.
They leaned further into each other to share a brief kiss. Curious fingers wandered beneath Roman's shirt. They poked and prodded at his sides, and he squirmed in an attempt to stop Jensen's tickle ambush. A teasing nibble against his neck was given in retaliation. Jensen reacted by giving a playful smack on the ass before letting Roman go.
