"What's next? Dark Cacao Cookie?!" Strawberry Cookie whispered, dread filling her voice.

And as if summoned by her words, Dark Cacao Cookie himself stepped forward, or at least, a grotesque imitation of him.

"D-Dark Cacao Cookie?!" GingerBrave yelped.

Wizard Cookie groaned. "Reader Cookie would say, 'You croaked it...'"

Dark Cacao Cookie's corrupted form raised his great sword. "I shall cut you down!"

GingerBrave paled. "Oh no no no no no no no no! I do not want to fight Dark Cacao Cookie...!"

Strawberry Cookie clenched her fists. "As Sib would say, 'We have no choice in that matter!'"

And so, the battle raged on. Though weary and exhausted, the gang pressed on, driven by their unyielding resolve. Using their will and strength they won, even breathing heavily they look around to see if something would happen.

At last, the battlefield shifted once more. They were no longer in the Dark Cacao Kingdom. Now, they stood within the grand ballroom of the Hollyberry Kingdom. But something was terribly wrong. Hollyberry Cookie stood before them, her warm and regal presence now twisted, her movements eerily puppet-like. Wildberry Cookie stood at her side, his powerful stance now hollow, his once-loyal gaze void of emotion.

"Sound the charge!" Hollyberry Cookie's distorted voice rang through the air.

"I'm ready to strike!" Wildberry Cookie declared in a monotone.

"Hollyberry Cookie! Wildberry Cookie...!" Wizard Cookie cried out in disbelief.

Strawberry Cookie's breath hitched. "O-Oh... I didn't know Hollyberry Cookie looked so scary without her smile..!"

"Don't worry, Strawberry Cookie!" GingerBrave reassured her. "That's just an illusion!"

"But...!"

"Trust me, our friends would never turn against us! And do you really think Reader Cookie wouldn't use this opportunity to turn a tragedy into a comedy?"

At those words, Strawberry Cookie perked up. That's right. Reader Cookie wouldn't let something like this stay so grim. They'd laugh, turn it all around, and make something fun out of this mess.

"Bring it on!" the trio shouted in unison, weapons at the ready.

From the darkness, two figures watched the battle unfold, their gazes locked onto the board where the Cookies fought valiantly.

"Awww, just look at you!" Shadow Milk Cookie purred, lounging lazily. "Worrying about your friends? About Reader Cookie? Want to help them out?"

The second figure, Truthless Recluse, remained silent, watching the scene with unreadable eyes.

Shadow Milk Cookie turned, his smirk widening. "And you... my dear?" he cooed toward the shadow lurking in the farthest corner. The silhouette grinned but said nothing.

Rattle. Rattle.

Back on the board, the Cookies pressed forward, transported yet again to another stage—this time, the throne room of Golden Cheese Cookie. But standing before them were not the ancients they knew. Golden Cheese Cookie and Burnt Cheese Cookie, too, were grotesque blue marionettes, moving like unnatural dolls on unseen strings.

"Halt! Who goes there?!" Burnt Cheese Cookie barked.

Golden Cheese Cookie's voice boomed. "Sound the golden trumpets! For your God has arrived!"
