The gang stood frozen, the echoes of Pure Vanilla Cookie's shattered voice still ringing in their ears.

Wizard Cookie swallowed. His voice wavered.
"What was that?" he asked, staring at the space where the memory had played. "Was it... Pure Vanilla Cookie's memory?"
Strawberry Cookie clutched her sleeves tightly. Her voice was barely above a whisper.
"Did Pure Vanilla Cookie actually... fall...?"
Reader Cookie shook their head. No. No, that couldn't be true. It couldn't be.
"It couldn't be..."
"No," GingerBrave said suddenly, his fists clenched. "He must be somewhere nearby! PURE VANILLA COOKIE!"
He ran ahead, his voice desperate as it echoed through the chamber.
"PURE VANILLA COOKIE!"
Silence.
No answer.
GingerBrave turned back sharply, frustration and worry mixing in his eyes.
"Fortune Teller Cookie, what are you doing?! Help us search!"
The cloaked Cookie stood still, unmoving. His gaze lingered on the fading embers of the vision.
Then, at last, he spoke.
"...What makes you so sure that Cookie is still alive?"
A chill ran down Reader Cookie's spine.
Something about his tone—
It wasn't right.
His voice—
It sounded off.
...Or rather, familiar.
Fortune Teller Cookie lowered his head slightly, his expression unreadable.
"Do you really believe that to be true?"
Reader Cookie snapped.
"What the HECK are you talking ABOUT?!"
But the moment they took a step forward, the air around them shifted.
They were no longer in a ruined city.
The world around them twisted, lifting them into the highest tower of the Spire.
The wind howled. The sky above them darkened.
And Fortune Teller Cookie—
He stood at the tower's edge, the flickering lanterns casting an ominous glow over his form.
A heavy sigh left his lips.
"Have I not asked you to give up and leave?"
He turned, his face still shrouded in shadow.
"And yet, you persist."
