Shadow Milk Cookie drifted through the dim corridors of the Spire, the eerie glow of floating lanterns casting long, twisting shadows across the walls. He had left Reader Cookie securely bound in his chambers, their umbrella confiscated, their magic rendered useless within the confines of that enchanted room. Without their tricks, without their spells, they were as helpless as a newborn cookie. How delightful.
Oh, how beautiful they must look, tossing and turning in his bed, their short dark brown hair a tousled mess against the silk sheets, their piercing green eyes scanning every corner for an escape. He could imagine it—how their dough, so soft and warm, practically begged to be marked, claimed as his. The thought made a smirk curl upon his lips. Soon, they would have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Soon, they would be his.
He smirked to himself, musing over the future that awaited them. Oh, he had such plans. Reader Cookie would come to see things his way—just as Pure Vanilla Cookie had. In time, all of them would join him, becoming an unstoppable force upon Earthbread. Not as monstrous as he and his comrades had become when they ascended to beasts, but close.
As he floated past the looming pillars, his thoughts shifted. He should check on his second guest, see how they were faring. Perhaps tease them a little—taunt them about Reader Cookie's capture, about how soon they, too, would see the truth about Pure Vanilla. And maybe, just maybe, he would tell them how he would make Reader Cookie his.
The thought sent a shiver of delight through him, but before he could entertain it further, a commotion echoed through the halls.
Magic crackled through the air, fierce and unrestrained. A battle. His eyes narrowed. How dare someone disturb his domain with such reckless disorder? He was the master of the Spire. Every shadow, every whisper within these walls belonged to him.
With a sigh, more disappointed than alarmed, he flicked his wrist and vanished into the dark.
The scene before him was... displeasing.
His minions were fighting amongst themselves, chaotic energy clashing like waves in a storm. Worse yet, the other cookies were running—escaping. His cold, cerulean gaze settled on Candy Apple Cookie and Black Sapphire Cookie, both of whom were panting from exertion.
"Huff... Puff..." Black Sapphire Cookie heaved, his glare sharp as ever.
Candy Apple Cookie laughed, flipping her tarot cards with a playful smirk as she leaned on her apple candy hammer. "Whoah... I'm exhausted! You can still pack a punch, Black Sapphire Cookie! Even after that interesting collision with the wall when you were chasing that cookie! HA HA HA! And here I thought you were just some weirdo who talks to himself all the time... eheh."
Black Sapphire Cookie sneered. "Lovely! Now get out of my way. I need to find them!"
Candy Apple Cookie huffed. "Hmpf! Fine! Fine! No need to be so grumpy..."
As Black Sapphire Cookie disappeared around the corner, Shadow Milk Cookie turned his attention to Candy Apple Cookie, his smile widening into something dangerous.
"Hm hmmm... I wonder how far those foolish cookies and that thief managed to—?!" Candy Apple Cookie stiffened, sensing something in the air. "What? Who's there...?!"
Poof.
A pulse of magic surged, and in an instant, Candy Apple Cookie was gone.
A tarot card fluttered to the ground.
"KYA!!!" her muffled voice squeaked from the card's surface.
Shadow Milk Cookie plucked it from the air and examined it with mild amusement. "Well, well, well! I hear someone's been a bad cookie. Now... what should I do with you? Tear you to shreds, here and now?"
