Chapter 13 The final gig

After the conversation that Diego and Quartz had about Diego's past while getting some rest it was the beginning of a new day as he woke up to the smell of coffee and eggs coming from the kitchen. "Ahh look who woke up from after a long night rest" Quartz said making him adding some salt and pepper to his eggs "That doesn't smell half bad what are you cooking" Diego said as he took a sip of his coffee it was just the way he liked it some sugar and some vanilla creamer. "Hehe how do not know your favorite breakfast Diego also the baby is moving a lot more than usual" Quartz said placing breakfast on the table for both of them to eat as Diego took a bite of his breakfast "Oh wow this is good actually" Diego said with a smile on his face "Diego you ever heard of Regina Jones works for NCPD and formerly a journalist" Quartz said drinking some orange juice.

"Regina Jones what does she want of all people I told myself to not do any work from the NCPD again" Diego said to Quartz as he continued to eat his breakfast. "She wants all three of us to deal with the it even want us to get something and deliver it deposit that's it" Quartz said as she messaged Anna the details of the gig which Anna reluctantly agreed to do the gig since she needed to the eddies. After a few minutes Anna showed up after revving her Arch Nazarè. "Hey how's my favorite Merc and netrunner doing and the little one also that doesn't smell that bad what did you cook" Anna said as she sat down at the table "We only have a few days until the due date however I had to remove some cyberware in order to make sure the baby can be born" Quartz said as she sipped on some water. "However I say we agree to the gig this is the last time we work with the NCPD again no offense to you Anna since your uncle is with the NCPD and all" Diego said as he got up getting his smart pistol and checking the magazine to see if it was loaded "None taken Quartz you sure your going to be okay since it's going to be stressful and it will affect the baby" Anna said clearly worried about Quartz "I'll be fine okay I'll just do some simple hacking that's it" Quartz said as she got up to change into her netrunner outfit.

Once all them were in changed into their regular clothes and headed to where the Cyber-psycho attack in Kabuki they decided to go into Diego's car since it was a four door car. After a few minutes they arrived to the location of the Cyber-psycho attack "Here we are let's look for clues" Diego said as he went to the entrance of the building seeing some blood "That blood looks fresh probably a couple of hours old" Quartz said as followed Diego keeping a safe distance "Uh I found something and it's with the Cyber-psycho" Anna said as she readied her smart pistol. However once Diego and Quartz turned the corner and saw Anna the Cyber-psycho was behind Anna and used his mantis blades stabbing her in the back lifting her up "ahhh" Anna screamed as she was thrown at both Quartz and Diego however was caught by Diego as he pulled out his smart pistol trying to shoot a the Cyber-psycho, but kept dodging his attacks.

Quartz tried to cripple his movement so the cyber-psycho wouldn't be able to move which is worked only for a bit at Diego shot his arm damaging the psycho's arm however he ended up getting his movement back tried to uses his Mantis blades on Quartz as Diego quickly speared him away from Quartz. "Tú cabrón (You bastard) don't hurt her" Diego said as he put a couple of bullets in cyber-psychos chest as the psycho kicked him off and tried to use his mantis blades again almost landing a strike, but the blades got stuck in the ground "Go check on Anna Quartz" Diego said quickly reloading his pistol and started shooting at the cyber-psycho again. Quartz went to check on Anna to see how deep the wound was as Quartz quickly used a health booster for Anna "Come on come on Anna" Quartz said as she quickly hacked the cyber-psycho blinding his optics for a moment as Diego got a quick shot on the psycho however the psycho ended up stabbing Diego through the gut as he screwed in pain.

"DIEGO" both Anna and Quartz a screamed as Quartz quickly began crippling the psycho's movement however the cyber-psycho noticed Quartz and Anna together and leaped at them stabbing both of them through both's heart. "You YOU BASTARD" Diego screamed as he unloaded all his pistol ammo in the psycho and quickly killed the cyber-psycho with a bullet to the head "No no no" Diego said as he quickly went to both to them as he let out a painful scream and alerted trauma team as they said they will be there in a few minutes as he noticed that the baby needed to be born or else it will die in Quartz stomach. Diego had to do stomach because he knew trauma team wouldn't be arrive on time as he quickly pulled out a small blade "I'm sorry Quartz" Diego said as he quickly cut her stomach to get the baby out and to his surprised didn't make "No no no NO" Diego said as he quickly did small chest compressions and the baby as began coughing and started crying. "Your okay my dear son your okay Antonio" Diego said as he injected a health booster into Quartz as she was able to move a little bit, but not enough "Our son Antonio be a good father to him" Quartz said slowly losing her breath "What's your real name Quartz" Diego said as he noticed that the health booster wasn't effective "Lucia is my name I love you Diego Flores" Lucia said as she gave her final breath and Diego cried while holding their son in his arms.

However Diego noticed he was losing blood as he noticed that trauma team arrived commanded him to get both patients and hand them to the team however Diego did what he did and listened. "We also need to the baby for purposes" One of trauma team members said however Diego didn't he took his son away as trauma team members started shooting as he went to Lizzy's bar in search of Rita "Where's Rita" Diego's said asking one of the moxes however they didn't know where she was then he remembered as he drove off to the afterlife. "Whoa whoa easy there pal no babies or kids in the afterlife" the bouncer said as Diego said "I need to speak to Claire it's important and is Rita here" Diego said as the bouncer noticed the blood on the his clothes and him bleeding through his shirt "Diego what the hell" Rita said helping him as she put him in a booth Claire noticed and grabbed some alcohol to clean his wounds. "Anna and Quartz are dead from a cyber-psycho" Diego said quickly losing his breath.

"Wait what" both Claire and Rita said as Diego handed the baby to Rita "Please take care of Antonio my son I want you to keep him safe don't let him get flatlined like me" Diego said before taking his final breath. "No no no" Claire said trying to keep pressure on his wounds "Claire it's to late his dead" Rita said as everyone in the afterlife decided to pay their respects to Diego as he finally became a legend in the afterlife and he'll get a alcohol beverage named after him called the Diego Flores. After a few days they had funeral for both Diego and Lucia as Mama welles put both pictures of Diego and Lucia next to Jackie's "Diego and Quartz I think was her name was one of the toughest crews I've met however they had a heart" Vik said placing one of Diego's favorite pistols on the alter and one netrunner jacket for Quartz.

"Those two were inseparable it was a match make in heaven I bless their souls and pray to God that they are resting happily" Padre said leaving them some eddies. Many others took turns and offered gifts to the alter once Mama welles noticed Claire and Rita she couldn't help but ask "Is that their baby boy si (yes)" mama welles said looking at the baby "Yes Diego told us to look after him, but we believe he deserves to be here with family since your the only thing to family he has" Rita said as a couple of Valentino's noticed Rita as they didn't care since they didn't see her as a threat. Mama welles couldn't help, but take Antonio who squirmed a little bit, but was calm "Thank you for being there for them come back anytime to pay your respects" Mama welles said as she returned to the alter with Antonio who looked at alter tried reaching out thinking that Diego or Lucia was going to be there however Pepe walked up to Mama welles "Hey maybe I should take him you'll be stressful dealing with him take a break" Pepe said offering some of Diego's and Lucia's favorite alcohol.

"It's best you should maybe take him loosing both Jackie and now both Diego and Quartz is now hard" Mama welles said as she walked to alter saying a prayer. Antonio who squirmed a little bit just fell asleep feeling safe "Claire and Rita right" Pepe said "Yes if your asking us to take us home with one of us I'm sorry we can't we were only good friends to them" Claire said trying not to cry seeing Diego's picture. Pepe ended up taking Antonio home and placing him in a small little drawer for him to rest as Pepe said "Don't worry little one I'll share stories of your mama and papa" as he turned off the lights letting the sounds of night city go on throughout the night.

(Sorry for posting this chapter late I've been really busy lately with a lot of stuff and some personal things I thought I could do more chapters on this story however I got completely burnt out of the story I feel like I just let you guys down with the story however let me know if I should create a sequel continuing the story with Antonio or something however thank you choombas for reading my story well I'll see you soon well adios (bye) choombas)
