After a while, Dheer returned, holding a small cotton wick dipped in oil. Ruhanika tilted her head slightly, her brows drawing together in confusion. She watched as he knelt down in front of her, quiet and focused, his movements steady and calm.
Without saying a word, he began to move the wick in slow, gentle circles, starting from her head and going down to her feet. His eyes stayed on her, soft and full of care, and his lips moved silently, as if he were saying a quiet prayer.
Ruhanika didn't understand at first, but there was something comforting about the way he did it, so full of love and purpose. Her heart softened, and she found herself smiling faintly at the small act of care.
When he finished, he stood up and met her gaze. For a moment, neither of them spoke. His eyes held a warmth she couldn't quite describe, and she felt her chest tighten with emotions she didn't fully understand.
Dheer walked out of the room to burn the wick, leaving her alone with her thoughts. She sat there, still and quiet, her mind replaying his actions. It wasn't just what he did—it was how he did it. So gentle, so thoughtful, as if she was something precious he wanted to protect.
When he returned, she was still sitting in the same spot, her eyes fixed on him. There was something in her gaze now, something deep and unspoken, that made him pause.
"What?" he asked softly, a smile tugging at his lips.
She shook her head, a small smile forming on hers too. He stepped closer, cupping her face in his hands. His touch was warm, his thumbs brushing her cheeks as if to wipe away any trace of worry.
Leaning in, he pressed a small kiss to her temple and whispered, "May everyone who sees you be filled with good thoughts and love."
Her eyes fluttered shut at his words, and for a moment, she just stood there, feeling the warmth of his care settle over her.
Dheer took her hand gently, ready to leave the room. But just as they reached the door, Ruhanika stopped him. She leaned in and quickly placed a small black dot behind his ear.
He turned his head a little, looking at her with curious eyes. "What's this?" he asked.
"Nothing," she replied softly, her smile growing.
He chuckled, shaking his head, and tightened his grip on her hand as they walked out together. Ruhanika glanced at him from the side, her heart feeling lighter, warmer.
