As the next day rolled around, Lana had expected to be the only girl on the team still on campus. Especially since the whole UConn women's basketball team had discussed their plans for their winter break, everyone but Lana, who decided to keep her plans rather reserved.

"Lana, I have an idea," Maddie's voice echoed through the phone. Usually, Lana loved face timing her little sister. Right now, however, it was 7 a.m., and she would much rather be sleeping in her bed.

"What's your idea?" Lana asked, her voice raspy and slightly annoyed.

"Okay, so mom and dad are going to Grandma's house for the weekend. Soooo, I thought you could come to Maryland and you know... Like hang out with me for sorta Christmas." Lana hadn't realized that this Christmas wouldn't only be different for her, but also her sister.

"Mads, it's already Sunday." Despite feeling sorry for her sister, an earlier notice would have been appreciated.

"It's fine, come on, be spontaneous," Maddie tried to convince.

"Fine, I will figure everything out," Lana said, more awake now than before.

"Okay, by-" But she was cut off due to the sound of the call ended button.

Lana decided to pack a backpack with her clothes for the day and her gift for Maddie.

As the brunette walked into the kitchen to make herself some breakfast, she noticed a blonde already at the stove.

"Mornin' P" She said, trying not to startle Paige's confusion laced in her voice.

"Hey, Lans, do you want some?" The girl offered.

"No, that's alright. I'm just gonna grab some cereal," Lana reassured. "What time are you supposed to head out?" Lana asked.

"I was supposed to leave at 7 a.m., but they put me on another flight, and now it's at like 10 p.m."

"Oh jeez, that sucks," Lana spoke, pouring cereal into the bowl.

"Wait, Lans, are you going back home for the holidays?" Paige asked, realizing she did hear much from Lana the night before when the rest of the team had piled into the living space in Nika's suite.

"Um, I was going to see Maddie today because my parents are out for the day." The girl decided to speak truthfully.

"Wait, so you're only gone for today, and then you're coming back to campus?" Her eyebrows pinched together as she questioned.

"I mean, I guess that was kinda the plan." Lana tried to speak as though it was not affecting her.

"No, what the hell. You're coming to Minnesota with me." Paige usually goes to Minnesota and Montana to visit both her parents, but for the past few years, her mother and her stepfather would come to Minnesota specifically for their annual Christmas party. Paige was extremely grateful for her parents in that sense. They were always willing to bear through any awkwardness to make sure that their daughter was happy.
