Chapter Six:Killer (EDITED)

Start from the beginning

"Hm?" she hummed in response.

"Please let me mark you," I pleaded, causing her to tense under my lips. "Those men at the mall, the way they were looking at you..." I trailed off. "I just don't want them getting any ideas about taking you away," I said as I pulled away from her and looked into her eyes.

She looked down and bit her lip trying to decide. I cupped her cheek in my hand, causing her to look up. "Ariel, I want everyone to know that you're mine," I whispered. "But if you're not ready-"

She cut me off by nodding and placing her hand on top of mine. Mark me, she mouthed with a small smile, causing one of my own to grow on my own lips.

"Are you sure?" I asked. "I don't want you to feel like you have to-"

She suddenly cut me off by crashing her soft lips onto mine, stopping me mid-sentence. Her lips moved slowly against mine and her hands softly tugged on my hair.

"Mark me," she whispered in a weak voice between kisses, which made my wolf and I go wild, not only because she asked us to mark her, but because she'd spoken to us at all. Her voice was a beautiful song and I could listen to her talk all day and never get bored.

I savored the taste of her lips for a few more moments before I gently kissed her cheek, then along her jawline, then I finally made it back to her neck. I placed open mouthed kisses where her neck and shoulder met in order to numb it, causing her to grip my hair tighter, letting me know I found the right spot.

"I'm sorry if this hurts, Little One," I whispered before my canines came out and I took a deep bite. A whimper escaped from her lips, causing my wolf to growl at me due to the fact that I was causing her pain, but I knew that I couldn't pull away now, or else the mark would heal over and I'd had to do it again. After about twenty more seconds, I pulled away and started licking away the blood that was now on her neck and looked on her new mark. It was a bite mark with my name right under it. Now everyone knows that she's mine.

As soon as I was done, she touched it, causing her to shiver as she did so. She smiled at me before she pulled me into her embrace. I lightly kissed her mark, causing a small giggle to escape from her lips before she pulled away.

Thank you, she mouthed making me smile. Just then, there was a knock at the door, causing me to growl. "What?" I snapped, causing Ariel to put a hand on my back and start rubbing soothing circles on it, instantly calming me down.

"She's awake," the head Warrior, Taylor, said from the other side of the door. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I pinched the bridge of my nose. I really didn't want to be dealing with this right now, but as Alpha, I have to.

I turned to Ariel. "You don't mind if I take care of this, do you?" I gently asked.

She shook her head with a sad, but understanding look on her face. I really hated leaving Ariel alone, especially now that I've marked her. It felt like I was leaving her vulnerable and I hated that so much. But, if I brought her along, she'd see some things that she's not ready to see.

I gave Ariel a kiss on the forehead before I got up and headed toward the door. I hope she'll be okay without me for an hour because I sure won't be.

I followed Taylor back to the dungeon where we kept all the rogues and pack members that needed to be put in their places and right where she was last time, Stephanie sat in the middle of her circular cage, she had a bleeding lip plus a couple bruises.

She looked at me with pleading eyes and opened her mouth to say something, but I quickly put up a hand, letting her know that I didn't want to hear it.

"I warned you," I growled. "I tried to be nice and put you down to an Omega and let you work your way up and this is how you repay me?!"

"I'm sorry I-"

"Stop with the lies!" I yelled, causing her to whimper. "If you were actually sorry, you wouldn't have messed up my relationship with my mate! And for that, you will pay."

I stalked toward the door and once I had it open, I wasted no time grabbing her by the neck and raising her up so that her feet were well off the ground.

"P-Please n-no," she whimpered as her face began turning red while tears streamed out of her eyes and she started clawing at my hand. "Please forgive me b-baby."

"Don't call me that!" I yelled as my grip on her tightened. "Anyway, if I let you go, you'd just go after Ariel," I growled as I swiftly put her in a headlock. "Any last words?"

She continued to claw at me as she choked. "No?" I shrugged. "Okay then."

I dug my claws deep into her neck and in one swift motion, she was lying on the floor, blood quickly pooling around her lifeless body. Her eyes still held fear.

"Taylor!" I yelled and immediately he was standing outside of the cage. "Get this mutt outta my sight."

"Y-Yes Alpha," he said as he mind-linked the Cleaners. I turned and walked out of the dungeon. I was so fed up with all this. Yeah, I eliminated one problem, but something inside made me told me I created a new one.

I was so blinded by my anger and thoughts, that I completely ran into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry," I said as I helped them up. When they looked up at me, I immediately recognized her and my heart stopped. "Ariel," I whispered, but she wasn't looking at me, instead she was staring at the blood that was literally on my hands and shirt.

She breathing quickened and tears rushed to her eyes. "Ariel," I said as I slowly reached out to put a hand on her shoulder, but she quickly jerked away, shaking her head.

"It's not mine it's-"

You killed her. She hissed through the link, a mix of fear and shock lacing her voice.

"Ariel it's not what it-"

You killed her! She repeated before turning and running away, tears running down her face.

Ariel's POV

He killed her.

My mate killed Stephanie.

Was she my favorite person in the world? Not exactly. But did I want her dead? Of course not! Especially not at the hands of my mate. A mix of emotions rose in my chest as the image of Shane's blood-covered figure burned itself into my brain.

I continued running and ignored my wolf's cries for me to just forgive him and run back into his arms. I was definitely not going to do that. Not after this.

I could hear Shane screaming my name as he chased me, but I continued running as far and as fast as my legs would carry me. I eventually collapsed in the middle of the forest, my weak legs unable to carry me any further. I couldn't hear Shane, which I was thankful for, but it didn't put me at ease. I could tell he was close. I took in my surroundings and saw something that would be my get away, at least for a little while.

A stream.

I crawled as quickly as my tired legs could and got in and washed the cool refreshing water all over myself, masking my scent. It was getting late and I was getting tired. I slowly climbed out, my wet clothes weighing me down as the clung to my body, then I curled into a ball on the ground. I shivered as a small breeze swept over my body. I felt like I was back in the attic of my old pack house. l took a deep breath as I closed my eyes and slowly drifted into a deep, dreamless sleep.
