Sylfir is a character that I'm using in my first (and current) campaign, Curse of Strahd (CoS), which is soon to end as of the time I write this. She is my first character, and I was so excited by her that I wrote a short story about her background.
That short story inspired this longer one and the paintings I've included in this chapter. Feel free to use for private things, but please ask for permission if you choose to use it for something that will be seen by the public. I ask that you also give me credit if and when you do.
Sylfir is a wood elf Circle of Stars druid, 94 in this story (97 during the events of CoS), so on the cusp of adulthood for an elf. She's a bounty hunter who sticks mostly north of the Heartlands (specifically in the stretch of land between Waterdeep and the High Forest, the latter of which is her home). This region is formally known as the Dessarin Valley, but is colloquially referred to as the Gateway to the North, and is part of the "Savage Frontier".
She has proficiency in arcana, animal handling, perception, athletics, and survival. her skills have served her well over the years—skills that were honed in the High Forest during her childhood and taught to her by her father (a ranger), and the local druids, including her mother.
These are the important locations in the story:

The red x marks Sylfir's home, Relthwin Aerasumaren (roughly translated to "Refuge of the Silverymoon"), while the blue x marks the village of Summerfall. The green x marks the town of Wynn's Hold—the link to this map should be at the bottom of this chapter where it says "External link". If that doesn't show up, then copy and paste this link:
