Alex
The house was finally coming along and I was both shocked and impressed at how much Joker had managed to get done in such a short time. I guess he was serious about wanting to move as soon as possible, but I'm not as dumb as he thinks I am. He obviously wants to get back to his old life, which I understand completely, but at the same time...I like the domestic version of Joker. He's calmer, sweeter, and the girls absolutely adore him. It's all I've ever wanted, but my future husband is for the streets. That's where he wants to be, that's all he's ever known, and I can either get on board or I can try to change him into someone he's not. Maybe I'll choose the latter?
While the girls are at my Dad's house for the day, Joker and I spend most of the day at the new house, dealing with the mold and electrical issues that came with this house; as well as picking out the paint colors for the walls. Even though the house is coming together nicely, there's still so much to get done, and I can tell that Joker is starting to lose what little patience he has left.
"Hey...you can't keep threatening the workers." I say, massaging his tense shoulders. "I know you're frustrated, but they're doing the best they can. Besides, they'll have the electricity finished by the end of the week, before they deal with the mold. Everything is coming along nicely."
"Is it?" He scoffs, leaning back as I continue to massage his shoulders. "If it's not one thing, it's another. We should've blown this house up when we had the chance."
"But you love the foundation of this house, that's why you haven't blown it up." I wrap my arms around his neck from behind, kissing his cheek. "And we agreed that this is going to be our forever home, so we have to make sure it's perfect. For us and for the girls."
"I'm getting restless, kitten. I can't take much more of this."
"Why are you restless?" I ask, already knowing the answer to my question. "Actually, don't answer that. If you want to go out and get back to your bullshit, then go right ahead. I'm done standing in your way." I unwrap my arms from around his neck, preparing to walk away, but he grabbed my arm and yanked me back.
"I'm getting quite tired of your attitude, my love. You and I both know that I wouldn't just be laying low forever." He growled in my ear, before biting my earlobe. I gasp and shiver against him.
"I know, but you seemed more concerned about going back to your old life, rather than appreciating the life you have now. We're not running around the town, causing chaos, we can actually spend a calm, quiet night at home with our girls, I mean...don't you like that?" He abruptly let me go, looking angrier then I've ever seen him. Yeah, I just striked a nerve.
"You're trying to change me, aren't you? Turn me into something I'm not?!" His voice raises and his body starts to get tense. Oh shit. My heart sinks as his voice rises. That familiar tension in his body is a warning sign I know all too well. Oh, please don't let this escalate.
