"So you start school soon, girls, are you nervous?" Nhlanhla asked. "A teeny bit excited but I think for the most, it is cool. I think we'll be fine" Jessica answered. "And languages?" Nhlanhla asked. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"You choose subjects you would like to learn, but then there are the languages that are compulsary" she said.

"So this means that we have to learn Afrikaans? And IsiXhosa?" I asked. "No my darling, just Xhosa or just Afrikaans" she answered.

"Well, which is easier?" Mum aka Tracey asked.

"I can't answer that. Remember a Xhosa speaker would say Xhosa is easy, but an Afrikaans speaker would say Afrikaans is easier." She said.
"So, we should choose both subjects?" Jessica asked.

"Find out which one is" she said. "And that means?" Tracey asked. "Associate yourself with people who speak both languages and try and find out which is easier, you see?" She said.

"What about a dictonary?" Tracey asked. "Well Tracey, the dictionary helps you spell and learn the meaning, but it doesn't help you pronounce words" Nhlanhla said.

"Okay, I shall see you soon. And hopefully, you will be speaking a little bit of IsiXhosa and Afrikaans" Nhlanhla said after she finished her coffee. "Thank you Nhlanhla. We really appreciate it. We would have been totally lost without you"I said.

She hugged us and walked out of the house.

It started storming. Oh great.

Their was a knock on the door. "Somebody get the door" Jessica shouted. "I got it" I said.

I opened the door and Johnny was standing there. "Johnny, hey" I said.

"I brought you cupcakes" he said. I smiled at him. He was sweet.

"I shall give them to Tracey, thank you" I replied.

"Jennifer, they are actually, um.. just for you'' he said. I smiled and for the first time, a boy made me smile and blush all at once.

"Thank you Johnny, I really love it. They are red velvet, my favourite"

"You are welcome" he said smiling. Is this what liking a boy feels like? I've always wanted to know why everyone just likes a boy. This is totally awesome!!

"When do you think is the perfect time to go to the V&A Waterfront?" He asked. 'Now?" I asked unsure. "It might be raining but that seems perfect!" He said. "I'll go grab my coat" we said at the same time.

"I am...heading out.. Don't leave my food in the microwave, I think I'll just grab something on the way" I said while buttoning my coat.

"Where are you going?" Tracey asked.

"Johnny, he wants to show me around" I replied.

"How come I don't get invited?" Jessica asked.

"Maybe you're just too much of a biatch" I said. That was the word Jess and I used when we wanted to swear.

"Well...see ya" I said. I walked out, not at all caring because, finally, a boy likes me.

I smiled at him. He was super, super and I mean, super amazing. Just so amazing. "You ready?" He asked. "Yeah, yeah I am" I said. We left in his car!! He drives!! Oh yeah!!

"So, how old are you?" I asked.

"Nineteen" he replied. He was nineteen?! "You're sixteen right?" He asked. "Um...no, I'm actually seventeen.

"Seventeen?" He asked. "Wow, you don't act like a seventeen year-old. The way he spoke, was marvelous. I don't think that anyone in South Africa spoke the way he did.

"You excited for school?" He asked.

"Not actually.. This lady who helped us at the aircport, she said we have to associate ourselves with people who speak IsiXhosa and Afrikaans, its compulsary to do one language at high school. I'm just not looking forward that Johnny" I said honestly.

"My gaaaaaadt Jennifer, I speak Afrikaans, duh girl, duh?" He said mocking my voice. I laughed at him.

"Firstly..I sound nothing like that and secondly, you'd do that?" I asked as we reached the V&A Waterfront. "Say whatever, you do sound like that. And yeah sure, I'll help you!" He said very sweetly. I smiled. "You're something special Johnny" I whispered. I took off my glasses before we went into the building. I didn't want to look like a nerd.

"So.....what we going to do first?" I asked.

"We're acutally going to shop around"

"Sounds nice" I replied.
