"So you cope by watching romantic comedies?" Paige stated. She wasn't the best at comforting people, especially when they showed their vulnerability. But Lana didn't need other to pity her or her emotions, she thought Paige's response was perfect.

"Hey, shut up." Lana grabbed the pillow that rested behind her and chucked it at Paige.

"Okay, since you're so perfect, why aren't you in a relationship?"

"Well, I would say I definitely AM perfect, but my ex-girlfriend told me I was too emotionally unavailable." Paige didn't want to say much, yet she found some safety when speaking to Lana; she knew her words wouldn't be used against her.

"Like you're too obsessed with basketball? Or like, you just don't let yourself get too close?" Lana knew she was pushing at it, so she made a mental note to steer away from this type of conversation and be careful with her words.

"Both, I guess," shrugging her shoulders.

"Okay, my turn, Favorite holiday?"

"Ooh, for sure, Halloween." Lana loved the concept of dressing up. When she was younger, her costumes were mostly princesses, but once she hit middle school, she grew an interest in scary costumes. In 7th grade, she decided to be Freddy Krueger, and the next year, Michael Meyers. It was clear to say that she had a phase.

But once she got to her final years of high school and was nearing college, she, like any other teenage girl, decided that slutty was the way to go.

In her defence, Halloween was the one night a year when a girl could dress like a total slut and no other girls could say anything about it. Mean Girls said it, not her.

"What is your favorite holiday, P?"

"Definitely Christmas." The response was predictable, but Lana proceeded to listen. "My family throws this party for Christmas where all my cousins come over and our family friends: when we were kids we used to have teams and have gingerbread house competitions, then we would watch the staple Christmas movies of course, Home alone, A Christmas Story, Elf, the list goes on. The parents would get drunk off of wine, which is pretty pathetic to think about now, but then we kids would go play games in the living room. Eventually everyone went home, and me and my siblings would put cookies and milk at the fireplace." Paige was now smiling, a contagious one that left Lana smiling as well.

"Is it my turn?" Paige asked, only getting a mhm sound from Lana.

"Okay, what's that one secret food combination you low-key mess wit?" Paige questioned.

"Oh, easy. Goldfish on my pizza," Lana laughed.

"What is yours?"

"Potato chips and ketchup," Lana couldn't even hold in her disgusted face. "Are you serious? That's fucking nasty."

Still gagging in her mouth, Lana decided to shoot the next question, "What is your favorite flower?"

"Roses" Paige spoke again, this time almost instantly, as if she had thought about it before.

"That is the most basic answer I have ever heard." Lana was actually secretly enjoying this game, but she wouldn't let Paige win like that.

"They remind me of someone special, trust," Paige shook her head reassuringly. "What about you?"

Lana took a moment to think before answering completely, "I don't know, maybe tulips?" She wasn't completely sure of her answer.

"How did you figure out that you liked girls?" Lana didn't even wait for Paige's response about the whole flower question.

"I don't know; I guess I just always knew. I never wanted to admit it, though. I mean, I was a girl that looked at girls way too long for it to be normal." Paige was taken back from the question in all honesty.

"Why are you into girls?" Paige emphasized the you, she wanted to understand the reason for the spontaneous question. She knew that Lana wasn't homophobic, right? Yeah, no, definitely not homophobic. So maybe the question was sparked by a personal curiosity.

"I don't know, possibly?" Lana's face turned as she answered.

"What would you do if I kissed you right now?" If the girls were going to be asking random questions, Paige was all for it.

Perhaps this might even help Lana with whatever internal battles she was fighting.

Lana licked her lips and decided to face Paige before replying, "I would probably be into it." She admitted, if it were any other time she would laugh at how desperate she sounded, but she was being serious.

Paige looked at Lana's lips, a glance that lasted too long to be a coincidence. It was almost as if she were teetering off the edge of a cliff yet still willing to push her limits.

Lana was aware that the next set of words that would escape her mouth had the ability to change the dynamic of the two girls who sat awake in her bed at 1:34 a.m.

"Can you kiss me?" she spoke urgently. If she spoke any slower, her heart would jump out of her chest.

And without another word, Paige's lips were on Lana's; the touch was euphoric. The warmth spread throughout Lana's body, and her stomach started to explode. Paige's hands travelled to the back of Lana's neck, pulling the girl in before her lips began exploring the opposite girl's neck. She trailed and kissed down slowly, in an effort to tease the girl in front of her.

But as soon as a soft groan left Lana's mouth, she continued sucking the spot harder, unable to hold back.

Removing her lips from Lana's heating skin, she looked into the girl's brown eyes. Seeking any sort of approval before she would go any further.

And all it took was a pair of pleading eyes and a breathy beg for more to change the connection that the girls had once known.
