(Keefe's POV)
The second I got Sophie alone, I dragged her outside to the backyard of Havenfield, where the gnomes had just installed a porch swing, almost like the one at my dad's stupid fancy house.
"You weren't on the truth serum?" I whispered, not wanting to look at her.
Sophie stared down at her lap. "No."
We sat in silence for a second before I mumbled, "So everything you said was a lie?" She hesitated.
"I was on the truth serum for the first minute or so..." She blushed just thinking about it. "And then it wore off. When I said I love you, Keefe... I really meant it."
I didn't know what to do with that information. My lips parted to respond when Sophie surprised me by leaning in and kissing me.
I kissed her back, and finally we broke away to breathe. She hid behind her hair.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to-"
I laughed. "Foster, you don't have to apologize. That was the best thing that's ever happened to me."
"Really?"
"Really."
"What's your sister gonna think?" She whispered, her tone worried.
"THAT YOU GUYS ARE THE CUTEST COUPLE EVER!" Kira squealed. Me and Sophie jumped, turning around to face her.
"Crap. I forgot I have a snoopy sister." Keefe muttered. Kira smirked exactly like Keefe.
"Wow, the family resemblance is crazy." Sophie breathed. Both of us blushed.
"Sooo, I have the wedding dresses for the bridesmaids ready, do you wanna-"
"WHAT?" Me and Sophie shouted in unison.
"You guys are old enough to get married now, right? There aren't any rules-"
"Oh yes there are rules." Another voice said.
This time all three of us screamed. We spun to find Grady glaring at us.
"You aren't allowed to date that boy, much less marry him." Grady insisted. "Go to your room." Sophie trudged back into the house and he turned to me.
"I'm watching you. You better not go near her for the next week, or I'll-"
"Grady! Stop threatening Keefe! Leave him alone!" Edaline shouted from inside. Grady sighed, glared at me one more time, and slammed the door when he went back into the house.
Me and Kira shared a look before she shrugged and walked away.

Not even Grady can keep me away. You know that.
That night, I snuck in through Sophie's window and she rewarded me by throwing a shoe at me, thinking I was an intruder. She apologized by kissing me and making me weak at the knees.
Maybe everything really was gonna be okay. (Or maybe not hehehehehehe)
