(Keefe's POV)

I waited in that hallway. I wasn't going to leave until Foster talked to me.

Finally, I decided to slip a note under the door. It said: Foster, please let me in.

After about two minutes, the door opened. And Foster stood there, giving me the world's saddest smile.

"I'm sorry for leaving you out here," she mumbled sheepishly. "I-"

"You don't have to feel guilty." I interrupted, feeling her emotions in the air. I stood up from the floor and stepped into the apartment as Foster closed the door.

"But I pushed you! And said a bunch of stupid stuff." She said, her head hanging.

I lifted her chin with my finger. "Not even a few words can keep me away." I whispered as our eyes met again. The look in her eyes made my heart flutter.

"What about a push? That was pretty reckless." She whispered.

I grinned. "Nope. When I said I do at our wedding, I meant it. There's no going back." Her smile made my heart melt.

"I've been such a horrible wife." She mumbled. "And I abandoned my children..." Her voice trailed off. "Wait, who's watching the kids?"

"Grady and Edaline." I replied. "Don't worry, I've been hailing them every day on my Imparter to check up on them."

Foster sighed with relief. "Thank you for being smart."

"Yeah, that doesn't happen a lot." I mumbled. Foster's laugh made me smile.

"Nice pajamas." I teased, pointing to her alicorn pj's. She blushed.

"I wanted a piece of the Lost Cities with me." She mumbled, toying with the hem of her shirt.

"You okay?" I asked when she kept staring at her slippers.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Wow, you're the world's worst liar." I teased. Foster laughed again.

I stroked her face with my hand, and her eyes closed, leaning into my palm.

"Foster, look at me." My voice was barely above a whisper. Her eyes slowly opened. When the early morning sunlight hit those golden brown eyes, I got lost in them.

"My whole life, people told me that to make you fall in love with me, I had to make you laugh. But..." I leaned in closer, my heart fluttering. "But every time you laugh, I'm the one who falls in love."

Sophie's mouth opened, whether in disbelief or to say something I couldn't tell, but I took my chance and kissed her.

Her eyes widened and then they closed, melting into my arms. She finally broke away, tears in her eyes. "Are you okay?"

I smirked, tucking a piece of her beautiful blonde hair behind her ear. "Never better."

"I didn't hurt you?" She whispered.

"Nope." I replied. "Maybe that ability restrictor actually worked for once."

She gently touched the ability restrictor on her head.

Then she whispered "Release" and the ability restrictor fell to the floor.

*Welp, that's all for today besties!
