- It's not worth it, stop fighting and give up Robin, Beatrice suddenly stood next to me. I wanted to tell her to shut up but my voice failed me. My legs gave way under me and I allowed her to pick me up as I fell.

-

An open grave stod before me. To the right was a neat pile of earth with a shovel stuck deep in it. The only thing that could be heard was the wind whispering. Beatrice stood beside me, without a sound she moved closer. The hand entwined in mine was cold. I shivered from head to toe came over me as I felt her skin against mine. In front of my vision, I put my free hand up, once again tore open the wound I had on my finger with my nail. Saw the red blood mixing with something dark. Dirt? I though.

- Gabriel? Beatrice asked, looking at me.

I pressed my thumb to the center of my palm before letting it fall. I read what she said as a question about my relationship with him. Where I stood with him apart from her. When I felt it, my heart seemed to be telling me something different than my brain. Logic and emotion didn't add up, which terrified me. My hand in Beatrice began to tremble. She hugged me tighter.

- Gabriel, I repeat with dry lips

- Gabriel, I repeat with dry lips.

- Gabriel is my protector. Beatrice's hand hardened when I said that.

- So if he is that to me, then who are you? I concluded. Quickly I pulled my hand up which held hers so tightly that she moaned in pain.

The grave before us was deep and its darkness appealed to me. I wanted to see Beatrice embrace in that darkness. So I pushed her down into it. She didn't even struggle when I hurled her into the depths. With great satisfaction I watched her body land on the bottom of the grave. I stepped forward and took a firm hold of the shovel.

- You see me as one of the demons, don't you Robin? said the voice in the pit.

I scooped up a generous amount of soil with the shovel. Without an answer, I sprinkled them over Beatrice's body. She lay motionless on her back in the grave with her hands clasped over her chest. Let the earth roll over her without changing her emotions. Someone else had tried to climb out of the grave they had been pushed into, but not Beatrice. She found herself in that situation without any panic or fear. I took another sod.
