The world as we knew was collapsing before our eyes. Slowly without us being able to do anything to prevent it. Our free will was taken away from us. We became puppets, controlled by a higher power. All we wanted was to escape, to cut the threads th...
The bright eyes that widen at the sight of me. He looked the same as three years ago, slightly longer hair and darker around the eyes. But Robin was the same person I turned my back on that day outside his door. Since then I have not seen or heard from him. And now he stood before me.
Behind him stood a tall man around the age of 25 with dark features against Robin's blonde. We met outside the church, it was day two in this new place and Frida had asked me to meet there.

Yes, Frida was here. Actually, I wasn't surprised to see her. After all, we were neighbors and some other familiar faces from the stairwell at home were there in the crowd.
After Beatrice's visit there in the room the other day, I met with the priest. Mikael was the one in charge of the people there and a natural leader. He had given a brief account of what the situation looked like, where everyone slept, ate and worked together. That I would take the time I needed to adjust to this new place.
About the services he held daily and how he hoped to see me there. That I would follow the rules that were laid out for us here. Don't leave the area and certainly don't go back to the city again.
"In due time we will all meet there again. But the time is not right".
What he meant by those words, he didn't want to elaborate. And quite honestly, he had given me more questions than answers during our conversation.
- It feels like he knows more than he pretends to, I told Frida later that evening.
But she just brushed my words off. Of course she idolized Mikael and didn't want to hear anything bad about that man. Her eyes seemed to sparkle when he was around and I hardly wanted to admit to myself that I understood her.
Mikael was a middle-aged man with a smile so pure that you almost felt embarrassed. He addressed everyone by their respective names and distributed compliments here and there. But he didn't feel fake, just lovable. I immediately got a good gut feeling from him.
So after a restless sleep among other strangers, Frida had asked me to come with her to church that afternoon. My legs dragged behind me, my head hurt from lack of sleep. There, Mikael walked around in the usual order and after him two guys walked that I hadn't noticed before. When the blonde turned around my heart seemed to fall to the ground.
- Robin, long time no see, I said stupidly, wishing I could swallow my tongue whole.
My cheeks became hot and the gaze couldn't be held in his eyes. I swore to myself internally at my body's reaction. Pull yourself together, Vendela. Then I saw that Robin's cheeks also began to take on a redder tone and understood that he perceives the situation as rigidly as I do. The guy behind seemed to have grasped the situation. His smile grew wider as he looked between Robin and me. The spell was only broken after he extended his hand to me and introduced himself as Gabriel.
