- Look what I found, Gabriel's expression was like a child who just got a new toy.

He jumped easily up onto the fallen tree I was sitting on and sat down next to me. Waving a full whiskey bottle in front of my eyes. The yellow contents sloshed in front of my vision and I wrinkled my nose.

- Stop being so sensitive Robin, he laughed as he unscrewed the cap on the bottle.

He took a big first sip. My stomach clenched just from the smell oozing from the whiskey. But I wasn't going to refuse alcohol under these circumstances. So when he handed it to me, I gratefully accepted.

I clearly remembered the feeling of being drunk. When all the world's problems seemed so insignificant and everything was just so wonderful. However, I couldn't hold back the disgust i felt when the drink burned in my throat. An urge to cough came over me. It made Gabriel laugh even more and punch me hard in the back. Annoyed, I push him away.

Why would he always mess with me? His grin always seemed to provoke me. Sometimes I wonder why I even hung out with him? We are as different as people can be. Everything seems so simple in his eyes, like the world is a playground and we are its children. Ready to explore all that fun, not a problem in the world, just endless adventure. But Gabriel had seen the dark side of life, how could he be so carefree?

I look at him, why did he so promptly want to be my friend? Be by my side all the time.

- Do you see it as a duty? Taking care of the weak? I saw the signs on him even though he nonchalantly tried to brush it off.

He wanted to be a hero. A hero he couldn't be to his little sister when she was alive. But I wasn't a project for him. I didn't want to be that for him.

I snatched the whiskey bottle from him, which he swallowed a little too quickly.

- If you don't calm down, you're going to fall off soon, I said gruffly, trying to shut my taste buds off as I took a few new sips

- If you don't calm down, you're going to fall off soon, I said gruffly, trying to shut my taste buds off as I took a few new sips.

The logs were only a few meters off the ground, so the fall wouldn't be dangerous, but it would hurt if you weren't careful enough.

- Where did you find this by the way? I said as I inspected the bottle. Tried to read the label in the dark but quickly gave up. As if I knew anything about any whiskey brands. To me, everything tasted equally disgusting.

- Don't worry about it, he said as he kicked his legs in the air. My gaze darkened.

- You stole it didn't you? I wanted him to pick up on my accusing tone.

Instead, I just got a hug on the shoulder and an outstretched arm that fished for the bottle again. His voice was close to me as he whispered:

- Don't worry your sweet head about it, I turned my head away from him for a second. So he wouldn't notice how red my cheeks turned.
