Dheer, who had been listening to her nonstop banter, finally spoke. "I don't have any problem with that, but I want my room neat and clean. I don't like anything out of place. As for privacy, I think we should just ignore each other. I know it's hard, while living together ,but let's not expect much from each other. Be happy in your own world."
Ruhanika quickly placed a paper in front of him. Dheer, confused, took the paper and read it. It listed basic rules for living a beautifully ignored and introverted life with a stranger in a room.
Dheer shook his head at her childish antics and signed the paper below Ruhanika's signature. She grinned happily and put the paper in a document file.
After thinking for a moment, she got up from the bed and brought a box to Dheer, who was looking at her, confused.
"Ah, actually, um, can... can you keep this? Mom gave me these bangles as per the rituals," Ruhanika said.
Dheer was even more confused now. "If Mom gave them to you, why are you giving them to me?"
"To keep them safe," Ruhanika said, scrunching her brows cutely.
"But you can keep them safe too. They are yours," Dheer said, remembering that Mamta Ji had talked about giving her the bangles of her mother.
"Just keep them, na. I can't keep things safe. I might forget where I placed them," Ruhanika whisper-yelled angrily.
Dheer shook his head, took the box from her hands, and told her to follow him to the closet. Ruhanika, being shorter, followed him like an obedient little girl. He told her the password of the locker and placed the box inside.
As he was going back to sleep, Ruhanika asked, "How was the kheer?"
"Which one?" Dheer asked, smirking at her.
Ruhanika already knew he would bring that up but decided to let it go for now. "The second one you ate at dinner," she asked politely.
"You forgot to add cardamom powder. You overcooked the kheer, and the sugar was a bit too much for my taste," Dheer explained like a professional chef, not noticing her glaring and the sound of her teeth grinding.
"Do you know I practiced self-defense and taekwondo for five years?" Ruhanika said with a smirk, lying on the bed (on the teddy).
"And what's the point of telling me this?" Dheer asked, turning off the light while lying down on the bed.
"Just in case," Ruhanika replied, thinking she could scare Dheer so he wouldn't think about doing something with her. Little did she know...
"Well, do you know I am a state champion in boxing, and I still practice daily?" Dheer said, placing one hand behind his head, controlling his laughter as he understood Ruhanika's little antics
"Wh... why are you telling me this?" Ruhanika hadn't expected that he was a boxer at a state level and still practiced.
"Just in case," Dheer replied, turning back to sleep.
Poor Ruhanika was still thinking no no no overthinking about what he said.
What will happen if he gets angry with me? I don't like tidying my room. I don't like cleaning and dusting at all. What if he gets angry and starts punching me? But I also know taekwondo, though I haven't practiced it for months now. From tomorrow, I'll start practicing daily. Yes.
