August's pov!
The first time I met Isabel Conklin I remember being starstruck by how beautiful she was even if she didn't think it, I thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world and I forever will, it made me realize maybe I have a thing for girls, I wanted to marry her but anyways, the first day we met I was hiding behind Susannah's leg, nervous, Jere called me a scaredy cat and Conrad slapped him on the arm and Conrad told me there's nothing to be afraid of
To me there was a million things to be afraid of, like disappointment or her being mean and not liking me but it was the opposite, apparently she was just as nervous as me, Susannah practically smushed us together and from that day on we where best friends
I have this one memory it was on my birthday I think my tenth me and Belly went off to the beach
"I love building sandcastles with you" I said looking at Belly, with my lisp in full force as I had just gotten my braces and wasn't used to them
"It is fun" Belly smiled, she hadn't gotten braces yet, I was jealous, I wish I didn't have them
"I also love your smile" I felt my face blush a little as I spoke
"Thank you" Belly smiled yet again "Your smile is nice too even with your braces"
"T-Thanks" I stuttered nervous, I realized I had a small crush but realized it would never work out all at the same time at ten years old even I knew that Belly wasn't the one
