Third person's pov

I let out a tired yawn after a tiring day, everyone else had gone to sleep long ago while I stayed up a little later to play on my phone and have a time to release my inner child. The light illuminating from my phone had started to affect my eyes and I felt them get heavy, doing my best to not sleep yet, though, it did seem late so I decided to succumb to the sleep.

I turned my phone off and seeing my relfection on it's black screen, I gently inspected my right eye and the marks seemed to have died down after a few week since the incident but an odd feeling still lingered. The scar on my hand had faded but it was still there, I clenched it into a fist before slowly releasing, I repeated this process for awhile since it would go numb often.

I plugged in the charger to the outlet below my bed and hooked it up to my phone and left it to charge beside me, turning over onto a comfortable position and hugging the warm blanket closer to me as I closed my eyes to finally sleep.

RIIIING

My eyes immediately flew open just seconds after I had just decided to go to sleep. I let out a frustrated groan and regretted my previous decisions while the others started to wake up from the sound of the alarm.

I flung the blanket off of me before planting my feet on the cold tiled floor and getting ready for what was to come while the anouncement rang all through out the base and causing more people to jump to action from their sleep.

"Estimated size of the target is 150 meters in length. A large type. it appeared in Sagamihara and..."

"Are you ready?"

I jolted awake from my seat when I felt someone nudge my side and give my arm a pinch before noticing that Vice-Captain was talking.

"It's time for Monster Extermination."

Noticing that I had time to spare, I decided to take a short nap, However, it seems the universe had other plans. Kafka had changed from his serious mode to looking like he was about to puke all over which caused a few people to panic and scold him.

'Looks like I won't be sleeping tonight'

I bet my eyes looked bloodshot from staying awake for hours and lack of proper rest while my hair was messily tied up into a ponytail the best I could with my tired and lazy arms.

I had kept nodding off the whole ride to which I received an earful from Captain Hoshina and Kikoru who were respectively to my side and front.

By the time we had gotten to the subjugation area, the citizens had safely gone to the underground shelters and the Huge kaiju was hovering above the city.

The pounding of my heart seemed to have reached my heart as we would be taking on the After-beasts that were similar looking to the Kaiju in front of us, However, they were smaller but still bigger than us.

I felt the exhaustion leave me and was soon replaced with an overwhelming feeling, though it was quickly replaced by determination once I took notice of the looks that my friends had while looking ahead.

I clutched my gun tightly and checked a few things before we were ordered to begin with the plan, I put on the mask we were provided with and cocked my gun before we jumped down from atop the buildings we were positioned on just as Vice-Captain's Voice came in our earpieces to start the operation.

Our platoon was split into different squads, I was away from the main squad that held Vice-Captain, I had gone to team up with Ichikawa and focused on my goal on killing many After-beasts the best I could.

I treated this battlefield like a game that I would always come out rising as the Victor, I would treat the After-beasts as merely obstacles in obtaining the main prize.
