Reader's pov

I rode swiftly and with ease on the road with my motorbike, noticing the congested traffic in front of me I let out a frustrated sigh before noticing an alleyway not so far from my spot and seems wide enough for my bike to pass through.

I lowered the visor of my helmet before backing my bike up and making a stupid decision of driving into the alleyway, fortunately, The alleyway was clear and no one seems to have noticed or ignored me for what I was about to do.

I revved up my bike before taking off into the alley and skillfully kicking on the wall when passing by a corner to avoid bumping into a wall and kicking off full speed when I got out of the alley and into the road with only a few cars and going on my way to the member selection second exam venue

Entering the parking lot, I passed by a few people who seemed to be about my age that were also there for the exam. Backing up my bike, I kicked the stand down and stepped off my bike, taking off my helmet and placing it into the compartment behind my bike and slinging a bag over my shoulder and zipping my jacket open.

I was about to take a step forward when all of a sudden a company truck was thrown infront of me, luckily I was able to jump back in time and not get myself killed before the exam even started, I looked over to the source of the throw and noticed a blonde girl with pigtails facing two other men who were also in shock of what happened.

"Kikoru Shinomiya. My hobby is killing kaiju, and don't you forget it!"

'Shinomiya...isn't she-'

I propped my bag back on properly and jogged right over to them and slinging an arm over her shoulders.

"Kikoru, how've you been?"

I had a cheeky smile on my face while she tried to push my face away from hers and letting out an annoyed grunt.

"L/n, you never really change huh?"

I placed a hand over my heart and faked a pained expression, portraying my look of betrayal.

"Why are we on the last name basis now?"

"L/n, Y/n L/n?!"

I was making grabby hands and forcing Kikoru into a hug while she was pushing me away with little effort when a guy with white hair stepped forward and mentioning my name.

"I-I'm sorry to interrupt, I was just surprised to see that we would be taking the second exam alongside you"

He bowed his head and presented himself along with the other guy he was with while I composed myself.

"I'm Reno Ichikawa and this man beside me is-"

He was interrupted when all of a sudden the previously flipped car was lifted up and placed back properly on the ground near us.

I looked on with suprise and amazement though Kikoru seemed more shocked beside me and Reno seemed frustrated which piqued my interest about the two men

"Examinee no. 2032. Kafka Hibino. And don't you forget it, li'l missy!!!"

Making a weird arrogant face. In the middle of his talk, a car had parked in their original parking spot and taking advantage of Kafka's state

"Damn, that butler's good!!!"

I zoned out the bickering between Kafka and Kikoru when I was approached by Reno who was interrupted earlier.

"It's nice to meet you Reno, though you already know my name, it's nice to know that somebody who knows me is taking the exams alongside me today"

I offered my hand to him for a handshake which he took kindly and waved me off as I left the three of them to go ahead into the building with a smirk and a determined look on my face.

'That's one hell of an interesting way to start into the exams'

"My phone...I forgot to log...in...for my....game today!!!"

I let out a few words between my ragged breathing as I ran in the front with rage feeling more determined to finish the exam quickly and get back into my game.

I was initially thinking that I would join the corps to get rid of my gaming addiction and serving for japan's defense force seemed like a fit decision though it seems to have backed fired upon me and I made it as an interesting way to motivate myself to pass the exams in the first try with flying marks.

The people infront of me kept looking back at me and paved way when they saw my determined look though it looked more like I was pissed off at them in their perspective which made some of them back down and let me through in order to avoid pissing me off any further.

I easily passed some of the previous physical tests due to my fit figure and competitive attitude though Kikoru was still ahead of me and it didn't bother me much since second place was still a good choice since there was no way I could beat her since she has always been training for this day for years while I did it purely out of a stupid decision.

I wiped the sweat dripping down my face and wiped it with a towel I had brought with me and chugged the bottle of water after all the tests we've been through. Shooting the empty bottle into a trash can nearby and scoring a goal though a loud booming voice cut through the air nearby which caught my attention.

Kafka had broken down on the ground in shame while being comforted by Reno for his efforts and Kikoru was walking back arrogantly towards her butler

I ignored their banter and left them to be judged on by onlookers since it was none of my business and looked down at the results of the physical test, feeling satisfied by my performance and progress

Though my happiness was short-lived when I realized that the next test was gonna be a lot harder since it required having more awareness and information about the kaijus for it's more on Kaiju Body dispossal and I had little to none to know about kaijus since I've pretty much been locked up in my room for years and had no interest in kaiju 'til recently.

'I-I take it back, I want the other test'

A few minutes ago...

Vice-Captain, Soshiro Hoshina stood infront of us and behind him was a huge gate that seemed heavily guarded and solid. My thoughts about the exam went flying out of my head as the man whom I admire and consider a motivation stood in front of me in all his glory

'Ackkk, my heart, it's too much! This is more than enough as a reason for me to pass this exam!'

The Huge metal Gate opened as Captain Hoshina input a code into the pad on the wall and mentioned something about neutralizing Kaijus which brought me out of my thoughts and look on. My face contorts into a look of shock and disbelief as living Kaiju came into view, the two men next to me had a similar expression on the situation at hand.
