91. Not With Those Two

Start from the beginning

Needle nodded, her expression softening. "It's true. They turned me into something I wasn't, but I've grown since then. We all have. And maybe, just maybe, Match and Pencil have too."

Saw felt a mixture of relief and sadness, witnessing the deep bond and the shared trauma among her friends. "This is exactly why I wanted to be cautious about this playdate. But I also believe in giving people second chances. If Flare and Thread can form such a pure friendship, maybe it's a sign that things have changed."

Coiny wiped his eyes, taking a deep breath. "I get what you're all saying. It's just hard to let go of that anger. But if you all think it's worth a shot, I'll give it a chance. For Thread's sake. BUT, we are going to sit and watch those two girls if Pencil and Match are anywhere near them."

Pin smiled, a weight lifting off her shoulders. "Thank you, Coiny. Let's start with a simple playdate and see how it goes."

The next day, the thourple had agreed to go over to Pencil and Match's house with Thread, who was visabally excited in the back of the car.

"Thank you for letting my play with Flare!" Thread squealed.

Coiny smiled, despite his heart beating at a million miles per hour at the thought of seeing her parents, "I'm so glad you found a friend, Thread."

Once the throuple arrived, all of them started to realize what was actually starting to happen. They carried Thread out of the car, Placed her in her wheelchair, and made their way to the front door.

Coiny took a deep breath, his hand trembling as he rang the doorbell. Pin and Needle flanked him, each offering silent support. The door opened to reveal Match, who smiled warmly upon seeing them.

"Hello!" Match greeted, her voice cheerful but tinged with nervousness. "Come on in, Flare is like, so excited to see Thread!"

Pencil appeared behind Match, her expression a mix of surprise and apprehension. "Hey, everyone. Thanks for coming. We've set up some activities for the girls."

Thread, who was practically vibrating with excitement, wheeled herself into the house, calling out for Flare. The sound of their happy reunion eased some of the tension in the air.

Pin almost cried upon seeing their connection, "Those two really like each other, don't they?"

Needle nodded, feeling the same way, "I'm so glad we got to set this up!"

Pencil, feeling lots of guilt after finally seeing those three again, felt she needed to stay something, "Look...I know the history between us had been far from ideal." Pencil turned to look at the kids again, as they were having the time of their lives, "But for the sake of the girls...look, we don't have to be friends, but we need to admit that those two girls belong together. We need to find a way to at very least tolerate each other for their sake."

Coiny, who was still not happy about what she did to him, and more importantly, the Pin and Needle, even admitted that he needed to have a better outlook on this, "It's hard enough for Thread as it is in a wheelchair. I don't know how many friends she's going to make, especially in these early years when kids can be quick to judge. I'm willing to put aside our past for their sake."

Pin and Needle smiled at Coiny, grateful that he wasn't too quick to jump to any conclusions.

Match added on, "We're like, so thankful that our Flare has someone to hang out with. I couldn't imagine what my life would be like if Pence Pence and I weren't, like, the bestest of partners!"

Pencil gave her wife a quickie kiss. "Thank you, Matchy. It means a lot. And Coiny, you're right. Kids can be cruel sometimes, heck, even I was cruel as much as I don't like to admit it, but they can also be incredibly kind and accepting. Flare and Thread's friendship is proof of that."

Match added on, "We all have our like, baggage, but maybe this is a chance for us to like, let some of it go. For their sake."

Coiny took a deep breath, feeling a bit lighter with each passing moment. "Yeah, maybe it is."

As the parents watched from a distance, Flare and Thread immersed themselves in their activities, laughing and chatting as if they had known each other for years. Their joy was infectious, and soon enough, all the adults realized one thing: Flare and Thread were meant for each other.
