Chapter 10: Consequence

Completely throwing my idea of connecting to Lord Vader right out the window, my focus was locked onto viewing the message that Sabel had left for me. But first, Blip and I had to escape Vader's chambers. The entire risky mission felt like an absolute waste of time, and not at all worth the potential punishment I would have had to endure upon getting caught. Blip's idea went into full circle as she connected to the droid access point with her scomp link, triggering an emergency protocol to fire up, but only on our level. An alarm sounded loud enough to be heard through the blast door, the stormtroopers on guard buying into the emergency due to the suspicious death of one of their own from earlier. Both troopers ran off to meet up with the two on patrol, and Blip triggered a sectional door to close off part of the hallway, successfully shutting the troopers away so we could make our way out.

This led us to successfully slip out of Vader's chambers, locking the door behind us and zip our way to the lift. It took no time to lift us up to our level, but once it came to a stop, we were met with a frightening sight.

Both night patrol troopers had caught us slipping out of the lift, and just from the atmosphere alone I could tell this wasn't going to end well.

Patrol troopers Kane and Jakova approached me, Jakova spoke first, "Well what'do ya know. Look who's wandering the halls after all the questionable occurrences we've had tonight. It's 'Miss Vondar' he taunted using a mockery of Vader's voice. Kane snickered in amusement, both of them stopping before me.

Blip had no opportunity to hide herself from their focus, despite most personnel being well aware of my droid's existence. Whenever I work, she is always with me. And aside from my visits to the cafeteria for food, that is the only time I am ever out of my chambers. She is always with me when others see me, and is usually the focus point of those who ridicule us. And unfortunately due to my light-colored hair, I was always noticed by everyone I came around. It was as if my hair was a beacon, resulting in either suggestive looks or belittlement by those who could never hide their opinions. Blip remained standing over my head, her little feet holding onto the back of my gray work coveralls. She crouched down out of apprehension, her antennas shifting backward similar to a frightened animal's ears.

Deciding to defend myself, my jaw clenched out of frustration, "Unfortunately I missed out on dinner and decided to grab some grub on my way to turn in for the remainder of tonight's rotation. And if I am not mistaken, partaking in travesty, let alone speaking in such appalling levels of disrespect toward Lord Vader will surely result in more than just one measly stormtrooper casualty, would it not?"

Jakova, even with his expressions being concealed within his helmet, began to fume, his tone more threatening beneath the suit's modulation, "Living your entire life as a slave no better than the bugs that worked aside you in the Geonosis hives would surely leave anyone predominantly brain-dead, and your stupidity is living proof that luckily enough brain cells were spared to at least allow you to communicate. But I understand that it isn't your fault your brain is unable to keep up with the pace of the modernized galaxy. I will do you a favor and keep you up to date. Lord Vader is currently halfway across the galaxy as we speak, therefore if I were you, I'd smarten up and watch my tongue before you lose it. There is no one here to sweep you off your feet and carry your wasteful existence to Vader's medbay this time around, Vondar."
