Chapter 4: Resurgence

Grand Moff Tarkin spoke up once more, my mind still in shock at his previous statement while I mindlessly continued to reconstruct the blaster, "Shall I give the order to General Olen to deliver miss Sabel to be reunited with miss Reina?" His statement nearly makes me drop my tool, in disbelief that the Grand Moff was addressing Darth Vader as though he himself were in charge. My current understanding of the hierarchy upon this battle station will likely be understood eventually, since it appears as though these powerful people have decided to allow me to join their crew. My understanding of Vader's unspeakable amount of power does not surprise me too much when it comes to how the Grand Moff is addressing him.

Maybe the two of them are deemed to be one in the same. A mutual level of respect.

Darth Vader's modulated voice filled my ears, "I will reach out to General Olen myself once this individual has finalized her reconstruction in its entirety. As for now, allow him to stand by and await my word."

"Very well, Lord Vader. General Olen will be notified." With that, the sound of the Moff's footsteps were heard retreating back to the blast door. The door opened, before closing itself once again. Because of what had just occurred between the two of us, I was both terrified, and incredibly embarrassed to look anywhere near Vader's vicinity. Each breath slipped out from between my lips in shaky exhales, my hands trembling almost obnoxiously as I gripped onto pieces of the blaster and fastened them back together. The sound of his breathing had returned to a stable flow, each exhale and inhale becoming more calm and collected with each passing moment. Neither one of us spoke a word to one another, despite so many questions just waiting at the tip of my tongue. I just could not push myself to speak.

Why hadn't he ordered me to complete the rest of the identification for the components of the blaster? Why had he lied about that to the Grand Moff? What did the Grand Moff mean by allowing me to claim this sector? Was I to be in charge of this whole area? Why had he brought me all the way down to this level, rather than having done what was requested of him by relocating me to a separate holding cell?

The sound of heavy footsteps began to blend in with the sound of his breathing as the Sith approached me from behind. The shrinking distance between us terrified me, not knowing of his intentions. Was he about to harm me? Was he going to finish what he had started?

Vader's presence could be felt directly behind me, and I couldn't help but feel very uneasy. I was barely able to feel him make contact with Blip, touching her for only a split second before she was suddenly powered back on.

"Bweeeep! Woop." Blip spurred to life, her head twisted around to look up at the Sith Lord, understanding that there is no purpose in pretending to blend in anymore now that Vader had somehow known where her power button was. Blip unclamped herself from my top and climbed up onto my shoulders, prompting me to attempt at consoling her, "It's okay, Blip."
