Serena Bliss stood by the hospital bed as doctors in white coats passed through her body, trying to save the woman lying there. She looked at her own pale face, bald head, and even missing eyebrows, lying there peacefully. People really do look funny without eyebrows.
Serena couldn't believe she was fixated on her lack of eyebrows at a time like this. It seemed that death wasn't as scary or painful as she had thought; she felt no pain at all. Yes, she was dead. Serena stood aside, watching her own body, trying to get back into the shattered, disease-ridden body, but she still wanted to live.
This floating sensation made her feel uneasy and insecure. Just then, the door to the hospital room burst open, and a couple rushed in, crying as they hugged Serena's body. Serena reached out to hug her mom, but her hands went right through her.
"Don't be so sad, our daughter is free now. She's gone to a better place," Serena's dad said, supporting her mom.
Serena watched them like a bystander. She really was free. From the age of 15, she had been hospitalized, undergoing chemotherapy twice a week. The pain that pierced her bones had tortured her for 12 years.
At first, her family was full of love and despair, but as time passed, their visits to the hospital became less frequent, and they gradually grew numb to her illness.
Serena didn't blame them. She was grateful to be born into a wealthy family that could afford her treatment, allowing her to live for over a decade in the hospital bed. She was satisfied, but life had too many regrets.
Her soul smiled, thanking her family. Thank you. Serena's soul grew lighter and began to float uncontrollably, not knowing where it was going.
Suddenly, she heard a cold voice in her soul: "Soul qualified, binding system space."
Immediately, a cold energy surged into her soul. Even in her soul state, she felt the icy energy explode within her. With the impact of this energy, Serena lost consciousness. Her last thought before blacking out was, "I hope I can still reincarnate."
She didn't know how long it had been, but Serena finally woke up, feeling extremely exhausted. Her soul felt heavy, making her feel utterly drained. She rubbed her head instinctively, but it felt like she was rubbing cotton.
Serena was both surprised and delighted, unable to understand her current situation. Her soul had changed, but she didn't know if it was a good or bad thing. Still, it was better than dissipating. She calmed down and looked around. Everything was a white void, with no sound, no life, just a dead silence that was eerily quiet.
Facing the unknown, Serena was also scared. Even in her soul state, she felt a chilling fear. But at least she was still alive, albeit in another form. Serena couldn't figure it out, but she had to accept it. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
The disease had given her endless pain and suffering, but it had also forged her resilience. Without a tenacious spirit, she would have committed suicide long ago.
Serena stepped on the ground, feeling the strange texture beneath her feet. She bent down to touch it, never having seen anything like it before.
After a while, she confirmed that she was alone and gave up looking for companions. She sat down, crossed her legs, and closed her eyes like she was meditating.
To be honest, Serena cherished life more than anyone. There must be a reason she came to this place. She could only wait and see what fate had in store for her.
Was it just her imagination, or did meditating make her feel comfortable? No, it was her soul that felt comfortable, as if warm energy was flowing into her, making her feel light-headed.
