Chapter 46

While Y/N was at work, Mina suddenly called her asking if she has time to meet up. Y/N said that she has a half hour break during lunch and could meet up then to which Mina agreed. Y/N is now waiting at a nearby cafe for Mina to show up and luckily only two minutes later, Mina came and sat down in front of her.

The two were awkward around each other and ordered some coffee first before Mina spoke up.

"You're probably wondering why I asked you to meet up." Mina said.

"Yeah." The cop nodded. "We haven't spoken in months so I was surprised to receive a call from you."

"I don't know how to say this. I honestly feel like I'm acting shameless just sitting here in front of you."

"If this is about Nayeon then yes I know that you guys are dating and you don't owe me an explanation."

"I feel like I do though... You trusted me with her to start the bakery and make it successful but then you found out that we're actually dating. I get it if you're mad. You deserve to be mad. You and I were good friends in the past and here I am dating your ex-girlfriend." Mina looked down.

"I'm not mad. I was mad at first but... there's a reason why she and I broke up. It didn't work out and maybe it will work out for you. After all we were good friends in the past yes but we haven't been in contact for like the past five years. So I get that you wouldn't see me as someone that's close enough to not date my ex."

"No, Y/N I really appreciate you as a person and I do consider you as someone I can trust and who's close to me. And believe me I never had the intention to get close to her in that manner but it all happened so fast and I couldn't even understand how I suddenly developed feelings for her." 

"You can't control your feelings. I know this very well. I'm sure you didn't do it intentional and if you both have the chance to be together and if you're happy then our pasts don't matter do they? It would be a shame if you two ignore your feelings just because of me." Y/N said before she drank her coffee.

"How come you're so understanding?"

"I have to be. Being mad will only make me sad and it will make the two of you sad as well. All of us just need to move on with our lives. I do still care about her and I always will. After all she was the woman I loved in the past. But I really hope you're sincere with her and won't break her heart."

"I am." Mina nodded. "I really like her, Y/N-ah. Believe me if I didn't like her this much then no way I would make a move on someone that's the ex of a friend of mine. I really like her a lot."

Y/N can see from MIna's expression that she does indeed like Nayeon a lot. If the two of them are happy then who is she to stop them?

"I appreciate that you came here to talk to me. I also talked to this about Nayeon and I understand why you guys are together and don't worry I don't feel betrayed or something. I hope you both treat each other well and make each other happy. I do think it's best if you and I don't meet anymore. I don't think any of us would feel comfortable enough to stay friends. Especially Nayeon. So it's best if we disappear from each other's lives." Y/N suggested.

"I agree on that one. Thank you for being understanding, Y/N-ah. You're really a good person and I get why Nayeon loved you so much. You really are one in a million. I hope you find someone that's as good as a person as you are." 

"Thank you." Y/N smiled weakly. "I should go now, I need to get back to work. It was nice seeing you. Although I just told you that we shouldn't meet again, if you ever do need me then know that I will be here for you. Same thing goes for Nayeon." 

"Thank you really. The bill is on me by the way. You can go back to work."

"Alright, thanks." Y/N smiled and left the cafe.
