Chapter 18 -The outside

He paused, giving me a reassuring nod before continuing. "However, we need to be prepared for all possibilities. If the opposing side refuses to cooperate or if we believe that trial is the best course of action to achieve justice, then we'll be ready to proceed."

I nodded gratefully, mouthing a silent 'Thank you', my emotions swirling within me.

"We were considering issuing a statement about the situation on national television to clear her name publicly. Would that be legally advisable?" Alexa inquired once more, her tone reflecting a mix of determination and concern.

Robert paused, considering Alexa's proposal carefully before responding.

"While issuing a statement on national television may seem like a swift way to address the situation, we need to tread cautiously," he began, his tone measured. "While it's important to protect your reputation, making public statements could potentially complicate matters legally. We must ensure that any statement we make is carefully crafted to avoid inadvertently prejudicing our case or infringing on any legal rights."

He leaned forward, his gaze flickering between us. "Before proceeding with any public statements, we need to thoroughly assess the potential risks and benefits. It may be wise to consult with our legal team to devise a strategic communication plan that aligns with our overall legal strategy."

"Excellent. In that case, I'll entrust you and your team to draft something for us to use, and we'll also prepare Genesis for the interview. It's crucial she doesn't say anything that could compromise her position," Alexa concluded decisively.

Robert nodded in agreement, his expression serious as he acknowledged the importance of careful preparation.

Turning to me, he offered a reassuring smile. "You'll be in good hands, Genesis. We'll work together to make sure everything is handled with the utmost professionalism and strategic foresight."

For the first time in weeks, I harbored a genuine belief that redemption was within reach, that I was on the brink of finally getting the chance to clear my name.

It felt like an eternity since I last glimpsed the outside world. 

The realization struck me like a bolt of lightning: so much could happen in the span of a few days that it was truly mind-blowing.

For what felt like an eternity, I had been ensconced within the confines of Logan's apartment, poring over evidence and strategizing our next move. The four walls around me had become my entire universe, shielding me from the chaos of the outside world. But in doing so, they had also severed me from the simple pleasures of everyday life.

As I stepped out onto the bustling city streets, the crispness of the air was a welcome revelation. With each breath, I drank in the scent of freedom, savoring the sensation of fresh air against my skin.

The peaceful moment I was savoring was abruptly shattered by the sounds of cameras shutters clicking and voices clamoring around me and Alexa. It was as if the world had suddenly come crashing back in, reminding me of my reality.

As I took a tentative step forward, the sudden scream of someone in the crowd sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through my veins, startling me into action. It was as if the noise had pierced through the very fabric of my being, shattering the fragile peace I had momentarily found.
