"Hmmm...."

Dogday hums to himself, deep in thought.

He was sitting in the park, under his favorite tree and contemplating what to do.

His bff Catnap had been feeling sad lately, and he didn't know how to cheer him up.

He'd been hanging out by himself, kicking rocks, and been shutting himself in his house more often than usual.
Although he'd assured Dogday that it wasn't his fault, which was comforting.

But why else would he be sad? Nothing had changed.

When he tried asking him about it, Catnap had denied anything being wrong, saying he was fine and going to shut himself in his house again.

Dogday sighed. "Why won't he just talk to me..."

His thoughts were interrupted by a chicken.

"Yoooo Dogday!"

He looks up at his poultry friend.
"Oh hi Kickin!" He says with a smile.

Kickin smiles back. "What's up man?" He says. "Why are you looking glum?"

Dogday sighs. "Well, it's Catnap..." he says sadly.

Kickin sits next to him. "What's wrong with naps?"

Dogday looks at him. "He's having some sort of sadness and refuses to tell me what's wrong..." he says, looking down. "And I have a feeling it's something to do with me..."

He kicks his feet idly. "Usually he confides in me when somethings wrong, but now when I ask him, he says nothing's wrong and runs away..." he says. "He says it's not my fault, but I can tell he's lying..."

Kickin pats his shoulder. "Wow, tough break."

Dogday nods. "Yeah..."
He looks Kickin in the eye. "I dunno, what do you think I should do?"

Kickin thinks for a minute.

"Why don't you try kissing him?"

Dogday nearly chokes on his own spit.
"W-what did you say?"

Kickin laughs. "Just give him a kiss." He says, blushing a little. "Always works on Bubba when he's mad at me."

Day blushes, smiling nervously. "Well, that's because you and Bubba are Dating." He says.
"Me and Catnap are not."

Kickin smirks. "Yet."
He looks day in the eye. "Listen Daze, I think I might know the reason he's all mopey."

Dogday tilts his head. "What is it?"

Kickin laughs. "Cause he's hopelessly in love with you and thinks it's forbidden."

Dogday blushes. "W-what? No he's not!" He says. "If he was, he w-would have told me."

Kickin rolls his eyes. "Not if he thinks it's forbidden." He says.

Dogday scoots away. "You're crazy, Kickin."

Kickin laughs, getting up. "Only as crazy as I wanna be." He says.

He turns to leave. "I gotta go, but give it a shot okay?" He says. "Trust me, it'll make him feel a lot better."

Dogday just stared at him as he walked away.
"You've lost your mind..." he mutters under his breath.

But he couldn't help being curious, thinking hard about what he suggested.

~later, pov switch~

Catnap was sitting at his desk, making another paper rose.
Crafty had shown him how to do it a week or so ago, and now he had made like 10, because he felt roses fit his tragic mindset.
