A waste of a lovely night

When Catnap woke up that morning, he had a specific goal in mind.

No more procrastinating, and no more putting it off.

Today was the day he was gonna be brave, and ask his crush out.

He got up, brushed his teeth, and had his usual breakfast of toast and jam before walking outside, breathing in the fresh spring air.

'I can do this.' he thought to himself as he started to walk towards the park. 'I'm gonna go right up to him and ask.'

He sinks a bit. 'And if he says no, which he probably will... I can just smile and laugh it off.' he thinks. 'Hopefully it won't be too awkward...'

He arrives at the park and looks around.

Sure enough, there was Dogday, standing underneath his favorite tree.

His heart speeds up when he sees him.

'No, you're not gonna back out!'

He repeated in his mind before walking forwards Dogday, catching his attention.

"Oh hi Catnap!" Dogday says, smiling and waving. "How are you this morning?"

Catnap smiles back and gives him a thumbs up.

"Cool." Day says. "What are you up to?"

Nap steps closer. 'I have a question for you, Day.' he signs.

Day nods. "What is it?"

Catnap gets nervous, blushing a bit.

'No no you aren't backing out!' he thinks again. 'It's now or never!'

He takes a deep breath before signing,

'Would you like to go on a date with me?'

Day's eyes widen, and he blushes a little. "A date?" He asked.

Nap nervously nods. 'Only if you want to!' He quickly signs.

Day thinks for a second, then smiles and nods.

"Sure!"

Nap's eyes widen and he blushes. "R-really...?" He whispers.

Day takes his hand gently. "Yeah, why not?"

Nap smiles a little. "C-cool..." he says.

Day keeps holding his hand. "Where do you wanna go?" he says as his tail wags.

Catnap thinks for a minute.

'Um, maybe my place?' he signs. 'I could make us dinner, and we could, spend some alone time together?'

Day smiles and nods. "Sure, that sounds cool!"

Nap smiles. 'Awesome.' he signs. 'What time do you wanna come over?'

Day thinks for a moment. "Hmm... maybe... 6? 7?"

Nap nods. 'Sounds good.'

Day then smiles gently. "I'll see you later then?"

Nap smiles too. 'Sure...'

Day giggles. "Ok, looking forward to it!" he says as he starts to walk away. "Bye Naps!"

Nap waves back.

When Dogday is gone, he does a fist pump. "YES!" he yell-whispered as loud as he could without it hurting.

Later that evening, Dogday was headed over to catnaps, wearing a cute little purple bowtie that matched nap's fur and carrying some purple carnations. .
