ITS US OR HER

ITS US or HER ; prt.1

It's the moments when you don't realize how fast time goes by that make you realize that it ends faster than u thought, but it's the moments that hurt that make you realize how much you enjoyed it.

I was sitting in a cafe on July 2nd, 2018. Enjoying my second coffee of the day, once I was finished, I left and started walking to the office to check in, but I fell into a hole in the ground; it definitely wasn't just a regular hole though. I swear it wasn't there a minute ago. "Welcome Kendrick." A deep voice called to me. I was a little shaken up from the fall, but when I stood up, I was terrified by the sighting. I was in a lab that was ruled by the most dangerous villain in town; I was powerless, helpless even. There was nothing I could do. I looked around for a way out and saw a ladder, I ran for it but got pulled back by a few guards. After that, I don't remember what happened I felt a sharp pain and everything went dark; I lost control of my body, I was numb. I woke up in a cell that had more light, and it wasn't like a cell with a bed made out of rock with a low-quality bed on top. It was a glass box with a decent-sized bed, a screen to see what goes on outside, there were plants, and a desk with a tablet on top. "Good morning, Kendrick." The deep voice called out from the other side of the glass. "What do you want from me?" I was scared but tried my best to stay calm, so he doesn't know he has an advantage over me. "I'm glad you asked! I want you to work for me as a villain. Join my team, Kendrick; I promise you'll get good payment from it." He said quite confidently, but something was off. "What's the catch? There's no way that's all you want. " I looked confused but confident in my response, When a villain asks you to do something, its always more of an order. "You're pretty smart for a simple human like yourself. I need to test my new experiment on you, but as promised, a good outcome is returned. You get powers." He said seriously; I could tell he wasn't joking. "Alright, fine, you can test your experiment on me." I accepted without thinking; I mean, how bad could it be? I never had a chance to use my powers because of what happened to my home world. "That's it? I take it back earlier; you're pretty stupid. But great! Follow me and we'll get started on the tests." He unlocked the glass door and waved his hand, telling me to follow. His lab seems as if he had expensive taste when it came to the furnisher but in a good way. "My lab partners will run some tests on you, such as blood tests, checking for viruses, etc." I nodded and he walked over to a machine and started pressing a bunch of buttons. While he was working, I looked for somewhere to escape, but I don't want to lose his trust; right now, I have to play it safe. Once the tests were done, he waved me over and directed me to step in the machine. After a good hour in the machine it finally stopped, the door opened, and the lab was dark and quiet. The only person there was a scientist. "Hello?" I called out to see if I could get the scientist's attention. They waved their hand at me and then directed me back to my room. "The boss left you a letter on the tablet there on your desk. Please look at it." I nodded, then he locked the door and walked away. I picked up the tablet, and there was a button that had "PLAY" written on it; of course I pressed it. After I pressed the button, the large screen on the wall turned on and the video played. "Hello, young villain! By the time you see this, I'll be out and about doing villainous things. Haha! But on a serious note, your powers should start activating soon so be prepared! Good luck, bye." I started panicking after the video ended, hoping for an explanation of how to work my powers, but that was the end. "That's it? My powers are going to activate soon and all he says is good luck. I don't even know how to work them, how to control them, what to do with them." I paced around in the glass box anxiously, unsure of what to do or how i should react. "Dr. Stefano ordered me to give this to you, Ms. Rue'Mani." I wasn't able to see exactly who he was, but he did leave a tray before walking away. I can see the food being pushed through the slot, but I still can't see who's giving it. The halls are dark, only the small light in my cell being lit, making everything feel monotone. "Wait! What's your name?" I asked him before he walked away. "I'm not allowed to tell. Have a goodnight, Ms. Rue'Mani." After that, he just vanished. It shocked me since superpowers altogether were illegal and if you were found out to have them, you'd be killed or locked away and tested on.
