Lisa sighed and took a seat near the windows. She saw that black cat again and it made her smile. She made a mental note to feed it again.

"Did you really mean what you said the other night?" Those doe eyes were now locked on Jennie. Expecting a happy answer.

"Which part ?" Jennie asked. She took a seat, a chair away from Lisa. Somehow, recently talking to her made Jennie calm. Lisa was the Freeland in her world.

"That you hate it all. That you are not what you show. That you are not a ..."

"A sadistic monster that gets off of watching innocent people die?" Jennie finished Lisa's sentence.

Lisa nodded. She underestimated Jennie and the depths in her personality. She used to see her as the typical power crazy person. But not any more.

"I guess I never was. After a certain time, I stopped doing what I liked and started liking what I had to do." She explained. There was something different about her. Something she felt was coming, a change perhaps.

"Why did you really propose?" Lisa asked seriously.

"To protect you."

"From what exactly?"

"My crazy obsessive sister." Jennie sighed. She acted cool and everything, but marrying Lisa was a late minute decision, one that Rose disagreed with.

"Why do you hate each other?" Lisa asked. She stood up and sat beside Jennie. Now that she was talking, she might get some answers.

Outside light was becoming dark. The fluffy cat was out of sight, and the palace was quieter than usual, and it made Lisa feel uneasy.

"I killed her mother."

Lisa's eyes widened. Jennie's tone was a lot calmer than Lisa would've appreciated.

"And no, I did not enjoy that." Jennie took a deep breath. How could she? How could she explain that complicated situation to Lisa only for her to be judged.

"Why did you do it?" Lisa asked. Feeling unease settled within her.

Jennie's eyes became tired for a moment. Lisa was sure she saw it for a second.

"I'm the younger daughter. My mother was the other woman. My presence was not tolerated by Jisoo's mother, I was somewhat in danger, and jisoo was.... well, she was an obvious target. I couldn't kill her, but I could kill her mother and take away her love." Jennie tried to leave as many details as possible.

Jennie was not in danger. Jisoo and her mother might not have been her biggest fan, but they would've never gotten rid of her.

She didn't like to admit it, but Jennie was manipulated from a very young age. Her character was built by so many different factors. It was as if she was there to entertain those powerful houses.

They exchanged deep glances for some time. Their relationship, however short it was, it had something very different. In so many ways, they were exposed. They were forced at some point, but they were fascinated.

"She wants me dead. Even if we're the last remaining people on earth." Jennie leaned back in the leather seat. She took a long pause.

"Now that I'm thinking, I never apologized. I never do."

Lisa took Jennie's hand. Comforting Jennie while she was admitting to her murders was not on Lisa's bucket list. But here she was doing it.

Something in the way Jennie told those memories, obviously not evil.

"You said sorry to me, and I forgave you." Lisa made Jennie look at her. Face to face.

"You are capable of being forgiven, Jennie."
