Greed

Within my heart there lies a hunger,
A greed that's forever stronger,
I crave the riches of this world,
And in my want, my morals are hurled.

I cannot bear to share the wealth,
And hoard it all for myself,
I long for more, and more, and more,
And in my greed, I've lost what I adore.

But greed is like a bottomless pit,
That never fills, no matter what I get,
And soon I'll find that I am lost,
At such a dear and bitter cost.

So let me shed this greedy heart,
And from this deadly sin depart,
For in generosity I'll find peace,
And all my greed will finally cease.
