A/N kinda short, but enjoy !!

Applejack closed her eyes, deep breath in, deep breath out. She was currently in a cafe waiting for someone. she tapped on her mug that was in her hands letting it make the tappy sound with her fingertips feeling the warmth radiate, if only things could be this easy, this-

"Hey Applejack. What's up?" Applejack's eyes blinked open, staring at the person in front of her.

she had magenta eyes, they stared curiously at her, it was none other than her best friend- well she thought they were friends at least.

"you said you wanted to talk?" Rainbow sat across from Applejack, staring intently. She will admit she did feel awkward, they hadn't talked ever since their breakup

Applejack was trying her hardest to muster some confidence, she just.. she needed to know they were okay

"I just wanted to talk about everything, about us" Applejack knew she'd messed up, a lot. It was no surprise when Rainbow announced that she wanted to take a break from her, or more specifically their relationship

"I wanted to say, I'm sorry."

Rainbow's smile faded. she looked more serious this time, "Look Applejack, you hurt me, a lot." her arms were crossed.

"I know, and I know it was me that wanted a break, and I figured we should talk"

"I don't want to get back together."

"w-what? why?" the blonde felt like her heart could stop, like she was being suffocated.

"I just- I want us to be okay." Her voice broke, but Rainbow didn't seem to hear her out, so she let her talk

"you basically led me on, you let me think we could've been something, but clearly I was wrong" the spectrum girl admitted

she chuckled, "you broke my heart, it was so easy for you to stomp on my heart over and over again right? After all, you destroyed the person I was."

she let out a breath, "even when we dated you were too scared, you wouldn't look at me when our friends were here, you wouldn't hold my hand, you didn't want anyone to know I was your girlfriend" she looked very mad right now,

"well I figured it out, you was ashamed of me, wasn't you?" Rainbow asked, but she wasn't really asking, the question just lingered in the air

Applejack was taken aback, "wha-! but I do love you, I always did, and of course I care." she tried to grab the athletes hand, but she brushed her off harshly.

A year ago, Rainbow would've loved to hear those words, but not now, there was too much.

the blonde clenched her fists, she never cried, not when her parents died, she never cried in front of people and she wasn't going to start now.

"just.. don't tell me you love me" the magenta eyed girl looked away, "because if you did, you would've taken a chance on me, on us!"

Rainbow was right, Applejack knew that, but admitting that.. she couldn't. She just stayed silent, Rainbow chuckled.

"so that's it? you have nothing to say" she was clearly hurt by everything Applejack had done and she couldn't even be honest? she couldn't even look at her.

"so much for honesty" Rainbow said dryly before she got up, leaving her friend alone. she couldn't do this, her heart was silently breaking.

Applejack just watched as Rainbow left, she frowned, she felt guilty about everything.

maybe if she wasn't so scared to fall in love, to take that risk, then her and rainbow could've been something. They clearly had love for each other.

"stupid.." she muttered, she was a coward, she was weak, she couldn't even face her own feelings, she'd just rather push them down, like they didn't exist. she was lost, what would she do now?
