CH.33 - end of the year

Johnnie pov:

It's been month since Bryan has talked to me..or since he's talked to anyone really. All of my friends from my digital escape say that they haven't heard from him since that party and Jake, Sam and Colby said that they haven't heard or even really seen him in a while. I do see him in the hallway every once in a while but he rushes in an different direction or goes into the Janitor's closet or some room that's for staff members only. I guess threatening to call the cops on him really did help, I wish I did this sooner.

I've also been staying at home for the past month. Not that anything has happened between me and Jake, my mom just misses me and said that the house is empty without me. So instead of staying at one house we go between his and mine.

I wake up in an empty bed and slowly get dressed. I guess because its the year I just don't feel like getting up. I just want it to hurry up and be summer. After getting dressed I make my way downstairs and is met with Jake cooking breakfast and my mom sitting at the table in her phone.

"Morning." I say as I sit down at the table

"Morning, honey." Mom says to me

"Here is breakfast." Jake says as he puts a plate in front of my mom then me

"Thanks." I smile

"Thank you, darling." Mom says as she puts her phone on the table

"No problem."

After eating I get a text on my phone from Colby saying that him and same are here. We both say goodbye to my mom and make our way out the door.

"Hey guys!" Colby says with a smile

"You ready for summer?" Jake asks

"Hell yeah, now Sam has to pay more attention to me instead of he lame school work." He laughs as Sam rolls his eyes

"Do we have anything planned for summer?" Sam asks

"Umm...no" I say

"We should do something tomorrow. Like go to he beach or something." Sam responded

"The beach sounds fun." Jake adds

"I'm down." Colby smiles

"Me too."

Once we get to school we part ways as the bell rings. School was actually really boring, I mean I don't know what I expected. It was the last day, what was there to do? I just fucked around in all of my classes and all I could do was think about the last bell finally ringing.

The lunch bell rings and it felt really weird. Both of my friend group mixed together eating lunch on the football field. It was strange but also really nice. I don't know why I never had lunch with all of them before. I mean I knew that they would all get along.

"Don't get me started on how Johnnie was Head over heels in love with you in freshman year!" Alex smiles

"Alex..shut up." I blush

"What? Did you not want me to tell him about that one time he asked you for a pencil in math class and how you wouldn't stop bringing it up for months? My bad." She smirks

"Alexxxxxx!" I groan

"Really? You did that?" Jake smiles

"Me? Talk about you all the time? No, never. It was some other totally cool and hot person." I try to play it off as I hide my blush

"Mhm, sure." He smiles

The bell rings and we once again have to part ways. The rest of the day felt like forever until it was over. Once school was out we all met up at Sam's car like normal.

"Are you guys ready to go home for the summer?" Sam asks

"Yeah." I smile as I watch them all get in the car

"Are you getting in?" Colby asks

"Um, nah. I think me and Jake should walk." I say as I look Jake in the eyes

"We should?" He tilts his head

"Yeah..I have somewhere we need to go before summer officially starts."

"Okay, I'll text you guys later." Jake says as he gets out of he car

We watch them drive off before I take Jake's hand and pull him to follow me.

"Where are we going? I mean we could have asked Sam to drive up...this is literally by my house." Jake smiles

"Yeah but...I want this just to be out spot." I smile back

"Are we going back to the....lake?" Jake says as he looks at the spot
"You out chairs and and ice chest here? It's so cute." He give me a hug

"Yeah, I just wanted to do something special. I really liked when we just hung out at this spot and I just.. wanted to come back before we officially go into summer."

"Your so cute." He says, causing me to blush

"W-whatever."

As time goes by we sit and watch the sunset over the lake. It really is pretty. I look over at Jake and see that he's staring at me.

"What's up." I tilt my head

"It's just... What's next? Like we're going to be seniors. The. After that college. What if... I don't know. What if we don't go to the same school? Then what?" His eyes start to water

"Then we can figure it out. I mean, we'll always make it work." I smile

"... always?" He repeats

"Always." I say as I put my hands on the side of his face, wiping off tears

"You're the best." He laughs as his out his forehead against mine

"I know." I chuckle
"But I wouldn't be who I am without you."

"That's so corny." He laughs

"I know." I now look him in the eyes
"I love you.." I kiss him

"I love you too."

We both did back down and enjoy the rest of the sunset. I love Jake and he loves me. This isnt something that I ever thought would happen. I mean, why would I? At even just the start of this year I was this depressed emo kid that no one knew, an outcast. But once I started talking to Jake everything changed. I got happier, like genuinely. I would get excited to see him or talk to him everyday. I also got recognized more, people would actually talk to me as a person. Same goes for my "outcast" friends. We were talked to as normal people. I also finally opened up to someone other than the nurse. Jake has helped me so much and he will never truly know. And I want to keep it that way. It's not like I don't want to tell him, it's just that I like it more this way. I love him so much more than he will ever love me and I'm fine with that. I love Jake Webber.
