The Day of the Dead in Mexico (known as Día de los Muertos) is a day of remembrance and celebration for loved ones who have passed away. The holiday is observed on November 1st and 2nd, and is marked by traditional celebrations that include offering food and flowers to the deceased, decorating gravesites and home altars, and eating candied skulls. The holiday has roots in ancient native cultures, and was later influenced by European traditions such as All Soul's Day.
