His companion looked exasperated, his voice filled with frustration in the quiet hallway.
"Why are you involving Genesis in this?" Logan asked, his tone betraying a hint of irritation.
"Because she's distracting you," Eros replied, his voice full of reproach. "You've been absent from rehearsals, haven't you noticed? All because of this girl."
Eros's words hit me like a punch to the gut, and a lump formed in my throat. Was I causing trouble between Logan and his band? It was never my intention to be a burden to him or his music career.
However, before I could react, Logan intervened in my defense.
"I only missed one rehearsal. She's not to blame for anything," he declared firmly, his voice resonating with determination.
His words reassured me, but they also made me feel even more guilty. I didn't want to be a distraction or a source of conflict for him and his band.
Eros sighed, resigned.
"You don't even know her! You're letting a stranger stay at your apartment! One who, by the way, is in the middle of a major scandal. Her intimate videos are all over the internet, the media is dying to know where she is... Turns out she's at my best friend's house! Have you lost your mind? Do you need a psychologist? Because I think the record label can provide you with one."
Eros's accusation echoed in the hallway, laden with relentless judgment that made me feel like I was in the center of a whirlwind of scrutiny and shame. My heart was pounding, feeling the overwhelming weight of the situation.
Logan held his ground, although I could sense a slight tension in his shoulders.
"Genesis is not to blame for the band's problems," he insisted, his voice resonating with a determination that filled me with gratitude.
"I just hope you know what you're doing," he pointed at Logan accusingly.
"Or what?" Logan's defiant tone seeped through his question, resonating in the quiet hallway with an intensity that shook me.
I needed to get out of this place. I was only causing trouble and I couldn't deal with that right now.
Before Eros could respond to Logan, I gathered enough courage to intervene. With hesitant steps, I walked down the remaining length of the hallway to make myself known, the sound of my steps drawing their attention. While Eros looked tense at my presence, Logan looked surprised.
"I think I should go," I murmured, my voice barely more than a whisper that struggled to cut through the tension in the air. I cleared my throat, trying to find some firmness in my words. "I never meant to cause trouble for you, Logan. You've been more than kind to me, and I... I've done nothing but cause you trouble."
The silence that followed was overwhelming, filled with the uncertainty and discomfort that pervaded the hallway.
Logan looked at me with a mixed expression of surprise and concern. His eyes searched mine for any sign of certainty. I averted my gaze from his, not wanting him to see how exposed I felt at this moment.
"Genesis..." he began, his voice full of an emotion difficult to decipher. "You don't have to leave. Not because of this."
I felt a lump in my throat.
Logan stepped closer to me, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "I won't let you go because of this. Eros has his own opinions, but that doesn't mean you have to pay for them. You're my friend, and that's all that matters."
"I won't be the reason you fight with your bandmates, Logan."
"We're not fighting," Logan calmly responded, his sincere gaze seeking mine. "And even if we were, it wouldn't be because of you."
