I can't decide

Barnaby has been cheerful lately. I don't know why. He has been hooting a lot more and flapping his wings with fervor. I would sometimes join only because I felt nice. But sometimes I sneakily check his Wattpad. One day, I noticed this:

I groan, facepalming. Then I read exactly what he wrote underneath. It got me cackling. Barnaby replied, "How can I be foreign if I'm dead?" I didn't hear him entering. I was wheezing from laughter, my black feathers puffed. "Al, what's so funny?" Barnaby asked me from behind.

I showed him, gasping out, "Even though I should be telling you not to interact, I just found this hilarious! Your response is golden! Both because it's hilarious and honest!" I giggled. Then I cleared my throat. "Good job standing up for yourself."

Barnaby replied, his plumicorns laid back. "It's nothing." He mumbled, smirking in his wings. I raise an eyebrow. He quickly added, "I have never been praised like that before!"

I told him, using cartoon physics to make my talon gently slick back his feathers, "You slayed, my friend."

He puffed his feathers out in pride. I was unaware that he had something planned for Emma. After the party we both have a little nighttime routine.

We go in our separate rooms, get ready for bed and we both use Morse code for playful banter. Then we both go to sleep. Barnaby usually sleeps in a way that defies gravity.

But tonight, Barnaby was nowhere to be found. I shrug, deciding to wait for him.

~~~~~
Barnaby had slipped into STH Academy again in the dead of night. He slipped into the Amy House, heading for Emma Warren's room. He was softly humming "I Can't Decide" to himself, his beak curled in a grin. His eyes glowed like flashlights as he followed the distinct and disgusting noises coming from Emma's room.
He slid inside of Emma's room like a shadow, wrinkling his beak in disgust at the smell of (redacted) and wine. He has decided to poison his wine stash because of Emma. He waited until Emma's two boyfriends were gone before he darted in and grabbed her. He pulled Emma through the window, flying over a lake. He knew that she can't swim, so he dove straight down.
He laughed maniacally as Emma and him sank in the water. Since he was a ghost, he didn't have to worry about drowning. He laughed at Emma as her pig face started losing life, "I heard Davy Jones Locker is lovely this time of year!" Emma tried to say something but can't. He pushed her deep under.
Then he swam to shore and shook his feathers dry. His feathers puffed as he dried off. He hooted, "Better get back before Ali suspects me! Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!" He spread his wings and flew back to his manor.
~~~~~

It was nearing sunrise as he landed. He opened his front door, it creaked open. He glanced around slowly, muttering, "I better get to bed before-!?" He never got to finish his sentence. I appeared behind him, my eyes glowing brightly in anger.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?" I shriek, my wings flapping. The Barnaboos woke to that. They muttered amongst themselves as I calmed them down. "Morning, Barnaboos. Lovely day, amirite?" Then I turn to continue my scolding, "BED EMPTY! NO NOTE! YOU WERE GONE! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN HURT!" Even though Barnaby is much bigger than me, he hid in his wings and poked his head out. I sigh, calming down. "Well, the important thing is that you didn't get injured." I apologized. "I just get worried."

"Sorry, Al..." He muttered. Then I caught a whiff of his feathers.

"Hm? Barnaby? Why do you smell like Forked Lake?" I ask. Then I decided to tease him about a ghost loon. "You haven't snuck off to see Gavin, did you?" I teased, playfully nudging him with my wing.

I caught him off guard, since his feathers puffed out. "I... Yeah. I saw Gavin." He replied. I knew he was lying, since his beak tends to have a crooked smile when he isn't being honest. When I say "crooked smile" I mean:

I had took a picture of him mid-lie but kept it to myself for this moment

I don't push the matter further, shrugging. Instead I say, "Well, from what I heard, Gavin likes you. Some can say he loves you." I grin back. Barnaby got a little flustered since I know he has a crush on his poison dealer, who is a ghost loon.

Sorry for being quiet! I'm working on the third part of Cheater Cheater part 3! No thanks whatsoever goes to Winelover66 for being a transphobic weirdo. Just block and report. Oh, and sorry for being inactive. I was fighting dragons, vibing with ghost owls, balancing college and IRL drama. Thank you for being patient!
