The Dance

Friday- After School

I got my mam to drop me off just up the street from school.

It was exactly 7:00 I had my dress on and I had my hair pinned half up and half down going down my shoulder. I had black slight heels on but not too high and my bag which matched my dress.

I got my phone out of my bag and decided to text Caspar.

Hey, Where r u?

It sends but he doesn't read it. When it gets to 7:15 I make my way up to the school. Its not to cold but not to warm, its just nice.

When I turned the corner I saw people walking into school.

Everyone looked so pretty.

I saw Caspar but then he pulled a girl towards him and they laugh and smile at each other a little too closely.

Ive never felt so hurt in my life.

I just stood there and looked at them and felt worthless. When she stopped looking at him her eyes locked on mine.
Caspar turned around.

"You look so beautiful!" He exclaimed to me. I kept my eyes locked with hers as Caspar crossed the road with her.

When he reached me he put his arm around me.
"This is Zoe." He said looking at her, I stepped aside.

He then said something I didn't hear and they both laughed hysterically.

"Im confused." I pointed out.

They both turned to each other and laughed again.

I turned and started to walk towards the school without them and he calls back at me "No don't go, your the one i want to talk to!"

"No, No you where having a better time with Zoe!" I exclaimed and turned back around.

I heard them giggling behind my back.

Worse. Feeling. Ever.

I reached school and saw Sarah and Hannah they both looked so pretty.

"Hey guys." I said quite sadly.

They both turn around as they are in the line to get into the dance.

I give Sarah a hug as I haven't seen her in a while because she went for her operation.

"All went good?" I ask her.

"Yup."

"Good." I said.

What am I doing I'm being awkward around my own friends.

When we got into the hall there was lights of red, blue and magenta circling around the room. There was long, red curtains draped from the top of all the windows and doors. There was music playing but not really my kind. The high ceiling made the room grander but, it was the school hall so I didn't have high expectations.

I grabbed a drink which was in a red plastic cup and sat down. Hannah and Sarah soon followed. But also did Caspar and Zoe.

Her dress was all black and her make-up was all black. Her eyes were dark beads. I was watching her from a distance and she ran from Caspar and into another boys arms, I presumed her boyfriend.

When Caspar got to them he fist bumped the guy and they chatted a bit before sitting down at a table not to far across the room from us. "So wheres your date man?" I just heard Caspar being asked.

"Mate she left me!" He said chuckling.

"She seems nice, she was nervous because I was there." I made out Zoe saying.

Caspar started to turn around and so I quickly started to talk to Hannah and Sarah.

About 2 minutes later Caspar came over to our table and asked if I wanted to join him with Zoe and her boyfriend, Alfie.

"I will only join you and your friends if my friends can come to." I told him straight.

"No then, either you come to the table with me alone or I'll just go and leave you to talk to your friends."

"Go then and talk to your friends." I said as I stood up.

Zoe came over and put an arm on his shoulder. She whispered something in his ear and they both laughed again.

"No, your the one I want to talk to!" He said following me as I left. But Zoe grabbed his blazer and pulled him back, she stopped him from going after me.

I ran. I kept running. All the way home.

When I got home I collapsed on my bed and cried.
