Stagnant Soars - poetry

nothing

I had never trusted love

that was until I met you

you showed me a whole new meaning to life with the amount of love and affection you gave me

as time went on, we grew together

and fell deeper in love 

my smile beamed wider, my laugh sung louder and my heart beat faster

you were my home, my safe place, my love

I told you about my past, I showed you the vulnerability and insecurities within me

I trusted you with my heart

which I never thought I'd do

you took it into the palm of your hand and dropped it into a bucket of ash

dragged it along some paper to make a horrific mess of art

and left it to beat on its own

the worst part of it all, is that you knew

you knew it how you truly felt yet continued to keep me wrapped around your finger 

like it was some sick game of yours and I was only a puppet

you left, taking a part of me with you

I fought for you

and I lost myself while doing so

you left like I was no one to you

you left without hesitation

you left like everything we had been through and everything we were was nothing

which I don't buy
