Way of the Ninja {Part 2}

Start from the beginning

I remember seeing the dark humanoid figure that had a black dragon tail with pitch black wings as well. His tail flicking from side to side skimming the water.

I remember how the figure stood over my father's body a sword in hand that was dripping a crimson liquid into the crystal-clear water.

I remember calling out to him fear and grief over taking my voice.

I remember watching him lift his head slowly and smile at me one last time before his body fell limp and his eyes lost their color.

I remember mom diving in and attacking the figure driving them out of our home.

I remember the grief we both had losing him.

I remember the pain of when mom turned on me abusing me and blaming me for his death.

and I remember believing she was right. I still do.

It was my fault Dad is dead.

It was my fault I went out of the yard and trusted them, knowing full well I hadn't become skilled enough in soul reading yet.

My mom was right.

It should have been me.

I was staring down into my lap tears now rolling down my cheeks.

"Sometimes I wish I knew what had happened" Wu said staring down into his tea with a sullen look.

It was silent for several moments. There was nothing to break it even the mining site had seemed to come to a standstill. I clenched my fists internally debating with myself. I spoke pain shooting through my throat, but I didn't care the pain of reliving the memory was greater and I had I get it out say something about it anything,

"Corrupted" I spoke in a quiet voice pain shooting through my throat, but I didn't care the pain of reliving the memory was greater and I had I get it out say something about it anything.

"Hm?" Wu looked up seeing the tears now a steady stream. He scooted closer putting an arm around me to comfort me.

"T-they- M-my dad used to w-warn me of c-corrupted dragon s-shifters." I stumbled quietly over my words leaning into Wu's side, "M-mom was right. I-it should have been me."

"Shhh, you don't need to speak longer child I understand." Wu whispered tightening his embrace.

We were both silent for longer and only released each other when I had calmed down enough. We waited for about ten minutes longer, until we heard a ferocious roar come from the caverns. I perked up listening intently to the bellows of the dragon,

"I WAS HAVING A PERFECTLY GOOD SLEEP! AND- HEY THATS THE SYTHE GIVE THAR BACK. I AM SUPPOSED TO GAURD THAT!!" I heard the angered and whiney bellow of what I guess was the earth dragon guardian of the Syth of Quakes.

I looked to Wu silently asking him if it was okay, and he nodded and chuckled. It has been forever since I had met an actual dragon, in a dragon shifter just a pure dragon. I jumped up and shifted into a small lean (f/c) dragon. I was now about a foot tall with talons that are matted with fur (kind of like a snow lynx's paws). I slipped through the undergrowth without making a single thing stir I came to a wide expanse of rock and waited.
