"I don't know. Working at the diner?"

"I can barely afford a car on the money I get working at the diner."

"Maybe it was a gift from someone. . .who doesn't know it's gone yet."

"Thanks." Luke sarcastically replies

"I'm helpful, aren't I?"

"Bye."

"Bye."

Luke laters meets up with Jess to ask him about the car.

"So. . .you got a car" Luke starts

"Motor Trend's not gonna be giving it any awards, but it'll get me from point A to point B."

"Yeah, I guess it'll get you around. So, uh. . .where'd you get the money for it?"

"Mugged an old lady." Jess sarcastically replies

"Jess."

"It didn't cost that much."

"What's not much?"

"Less than a lot?"

"Jess, where did you get the money?"

"You know that hash you sling at the diner? I scrape it off the plates in the back. Remember I work for you?"

"Yeah, I know you do."

"Okay, then."

"I also know I don't pay you enough to buy the car."

"I saved up my pennies and I bought the car from Gypsy. She gave me a good deal. That's how I got the car."

Luke continues to question him about further expenses the car is going to need. Jess claimed to have factored it all in and have it all figured out. Jess then hands him the registration for Luke to sign because he's still a minor.

The next morning Jess walks downstairs into the diner. Which was very surprising to Luke.

"You're up early." Luke states

"I got a few errands to run." Jess replied

"You got time before school?"

"I got wheels."

"Right, right, you got wheels."

Jess opens up the donut display case and grabs two donuts out from it.

"By the way, I owe you ten bucks." Jess says

"When did I loan you ten bucks?"

"Last night."

"I wasn't here last night."

"You're always here, Uncle Luke  in my heart."

"You took money out of the register"

"I'm going to the bank now. You'll get it back today."

"I told you a hundred times, do not take money out of the register."

"Gotta run."

Jess drives over to Sabrina's house, who was already excitedly waiting on her front porch. She runs over to Jess' car, he gets out a kisses her before opening up her side of the door.

"You wanna go shopping in Hartford?" Jess asks while smiling, and handing her one of the donuts

"Uh is that even a question" Sabrina buckles up her seatbelt and they drive off.

Later in the afternoon, Rory and Lane are walking down the sidewalk when they come across Jess' parked car.

"That's new." Lane points out looking at the car

"Is it?" Rory asks

"I've never seen it before, and I'm very into the minutia around here."

"That's for sure."

"Do you know whose it is?"

"Yup. Jess'"

"Jess? He's got a car now?"

" Yep Jess, the guy who wrecked my sister's car? He's got a car now"

"Oh well I'm sure-" Lane starts before getting cut off by Rory

"This is such a travesty"

"It's not that big of a deal, I mean Sabrina and Jess have been together for a while, I think-" Lane gets interrupted again

"It's a humongous deal" Rory rolls her eyes, then Jess suddenly walks over

"Hey Lane" Jess greets

"Hey Jess" Lane replies

"Hey" Jess nods over to Rory

"Hey back at ya" Rory annoyedly responds

"Something wrong?" Jess questions

"Yes, you have a car"

"I know" Jess confusedly looks at her, before unlocking the door trying to get in

"How'd you get the car" Rory further presses

"I bought it"

"Really, I thought you might've built it from parts left over from cars you've totaled."

"What is your problem?"

"Don't play dumb, you know what you did"

"I gotta go"

"Do you care about my sister's feelings at all?" Rory shouts

"Do you? Because last time I checked your still with that jerk who hurt her more then I ever did"

"Just get in the car and go, Jess" Rory says taken aback

"I'm trying"

"Then go"

"Geez, how Andy Griffith is this town that people get so excited by a car?"

"It's not the car, it's who's got the car."

"Okay, fine, you want it? Take it, I'm sick of this."

"I don't want this piece of junk."

"Right. I suppose Dean is already building you another car, something really snazzy."

"Shut up and go."

"Gladly." Jess finally drives off
