Events based on Sonic Forces happen in this AU, so y'know, Infinite, Death Egg, Phantom Ruby (Sonic getting tortured for half a freaking year)
I've noticed that in my writing, I very much humanize the Phantom Ruby- aka, the way it "chooses" Infinite or protects him when it's ripped out of his chest.
So, I decided that the Ruby is conscious being
It was awakened/gained sentience when Eggman dug it up, around 15 years from the current time of the SU
So, while the gem itself is thousands of years old, the spirit/consciousness is about 15 (Like Infinite, Sonic, Amy, Sally, and Espio)
They only revealed themself when Infinite was recovering from his injuries (aka the gaping hold in his chest that they were keeping him alive from), and they only really appear around Infinite
Aso, because their years of consciousness/life had been inside Eggman's lab, they absolutely have no idea about most things in the world and feel very guilty for how Eggman used their power
PS: The demons won, Infinite and Phantom Ruby (the consciousness) are dating now
