Unable to finish my lunch, I put it away for later. I went to my room and called Tony. He answered almost immediately.
"Tony! Have you seen Andrea since last night?" I demanded.
"No. Beatrice stopped by earlier to ask me the same thing."
"What did you say?"
"I said that I didn't see her since she left. I ordered her an Uber to go home and that was it."
"Shit."
"I know."
"I hope she shows up. I'm going to lose it if she's actually missing."
"Don't worry. I'm sure she will. She loves her family and friends too much to stay gone."
"I hope you're right. I'll talk to you later, Tony. Let everyone know if you hear from her."
"Of course."
"Bye."
"Bye."
After we hung up, I called our friends Jamie, Claudia, and Tyler and basically had the same conversation. They stayed longer than I did so they physically saw Andrea leave the party. They had the same assumption as Tony that she took the Uber home and stayed there. We hung up and I didn't feel any better about the situation.
The feeling only got worse when we went to her house in the morning to ask if Beatrice had seen her. My gut feeling was telling me that she hadn't because if she had, she would've told everyone. Beatrice confirmed it and started sobbing. My mom comforted her, which helped a tiny bit. Beatrice wiped her eyes and said that she never wanted it to come to this, but she was going to report it to the police. That meant that this was officially a missing persons case. The thought made me sick. I was just talking to Andrea two days ago and now she was considered to be missing?
I had to try not to cry as we stood by Beatrice's side at the police station. We told them everything that we knew. The cop, Officer Flores, told us that an officer would come by the house to investigate. Since there wasn't much else that we could do, we thanked him and left. It felt hopeless to leave it to the police but I had to go with it. They would search the house and find some evidence that would help us find her. Right?
