The sound of pencils scraping against the tests Hazel had passed out moments before filled the room as she did research for her next few classes.
She has been a teacher at Beacon Hills High School for years unlike the other teachers that came and went strangely.
She never looked into it though as she wasn't a powerful person.
She was only a history geek who spent her time in books.
She listened to the clock on her desk tick down as the sound of the mechanisms ticking slowly soothed her.
Hazel went back and forth between her laptop and countless textbooks spread around her desk as she wrote an essay about Nazi Germany which had been her set topic for a few weeks now.
She enjoyed this topic much more than the others as that decade of death and panic drew her in.
She had heard stories from her grandfather who fought against the Germans and she remembered one story.
He always said in his last few years that he had fought unstoppable soldiers.
Corpses in dark clothing and stunning horses.
The nurses in the care home he spent his last years in said that it was just symptoms of dementia.
She never believed them.
Not since finding multiple texts about these beings.
The wild hunt, ghost riders.
She was tempted to teach her classes about it but didn't know what the school would do with a teacher teaching students about legends.
Suddenly the timer went off as the students desperately tryed to finish their tests.
"Times up.
If everyone can leave their papers on your desks.
After that, you are welcome to go.
Well done" she said softly.
The students smiled before walking out.
She walked them walk out before looking forward seeing Mason.
"Sorry to bother you, Miss but I was wondering if you could let Corey take his test at a later date" Mason said.
"Of course.
Did he not finish in time?" she asked.
"He didn't come in at all.
I know he's been studying though" he said.
"Let me see.
I should be able to squeeze him in at 1 pm on monday.
If he can come talk to me either today or monday in person or by email that would be appreciated" she said as she wrote his name and the reason he was coming in inside her planner.
"Yeah.
I'm sure he can do that.
Thank you so much" he said before walking out.
She smiled before putting her textbooks away.
She had to make her way to a meeting with Natalie and she was already twenty minutes late.
She walked out of her classroom before walking through the school and making her way to the principal's office.
Hazel walked downstairs before noticing a man looking around with a confused expression on his face.
She looked at him before freezing as he looked back at her.
"Hi.
Are you new?" she asked as she looked at his almost-perfect face.
She couldn't find any flaws.
"Yes.
I'm the new physics teacher" he said.
"Physics is upstairs.
Room 103 next to mine.
I'm the history teacher" she said.
"History.
You don't look like a woman that would find all that very interesting" he said.
"It's my entire life.
I'm Hazel Vance" she said.
"Garrett Douglas," he said.
She smiled "Do you want me to show you where your classroom is?" she asked.
"In sure I can find it.
Thank you" he said.
"No problem," she said before walking to the principal office again.
He watched her walk away as his eyes glowed.
She was the one he came to the school for.
His true mate, his lioness.
