Further Downstream

come hither,
i know a creek where no one can see us
the water is a whore
but ive bribed it with my only three dimes
and it wont whisper what we do to the world.
listen to my siren song
silver bubbles underwater
the threat of drowning, dying
keeping me afloat

im back,
the willow trees are walls enough
the sun is a mirrored ceiling
you're home, here in this creek
wash yourself in me
salmon between our ankles
we are the violators of an empty midnight beach
cupid's bow to pierced ear, i'm your man

fingertips
still not close enough
soaked linens between your ankles
wind touches your skin
not before i do
chasing across for my hand's own tail
buried somewhere in your flesh
you radiate,
now the water is lukewarm
along with my demise, i suspect the shards of rejected stars hide somewere in your flesh

lovely
i taste desire
nothing else
pangs of electric need shoot through me
your urgency shocks all the salmon away in spirals
further downstream
to follow your decorum i threw into the water
do you hear what the larks tell you?
do you hear what my heart tells you?

without fear
you don't need whatever is holding you back
throw it all downstream
you don't need the ice you bear
throw it all downstream
and when the your sanity tries to pull you out of the creek
ill reach into your heavy, twisted head
and throw it all
downstream.
