I walk out of the bathroom and shoot a glare at Leo. He smirks at me and I hope one day I can punch that smirk right off his face. Rose is laying on the bed looking at Leo as if she is scared for her life, I almost find it funny until Rose looks over to me and I see her eyes go down to the hickey on my neck. Oh no.
Rose quickly moves away from Leo," He hurt you," she says her face filled with concern. My face flushes Red as I again try to pull my shirt up to cover it. It doesn't work.
'No, No, he didn't hurt me,'' I say trying to reassure her but she doesn't seem to hear me because she glares at Leo. Leo looks like he's about to burst out laughing.
"If he didnt hurt you, what is that," she points one of her little fingers at my neck. I'm glad it's dark in the room or else she might think Leo hit me for how red my face is.
"It's a-"
"I heard you, you sounded hurt," Oh god, she heard me, I barely made any noise,Right? Leo starts having a laughing fit and it takes all of my self control not to smack him.
"I accidentally pinched myself," I say and she looks unconvinced.
"How could you accidentally pinch yourself?" Leo asks and I glare at him, this is all his fault.
"I'm clumsy, ok?"
"Sure, but I heard you moaning, Why were you moaning love?" That's it, I launch myself at him as I repeatedly hit him in the head. I take it easy on him of course since I know he's a weakling. He is laughing as he blocks his head with his arms.
"You stupid, foul, umm, idiot." I have some other ideas of what I could call him but I don't want Rose hearing those words.
"That's all you got?" he asks me teasingly and I just glare at him. All of a sudden he grabs my waist flipping me on my back. He lays over top of me and has his arms resting on either side of head. I want his body to touch mine but he hovers over me. I looked up at him, panting yes I was panting like a goddamn dog.
A gold chain slips out of his shirt that I hadn't noticed before. I stare at it for a minute before I move my eyes back to his face. He is looking at my lips.
No we can't do this now, Rose is here. I reluctantly push him off me and look over at Rose who is staring at us.
"Lets get some rest," I say awkwardly, Rose immediately get under the covers and slides all the way over to the other side of the bed. "Don't you want to sleep in between us?" I ask her and she shakes her head.
"I want to sleep the farthest away from the door." I furrow my eyebrow in confusion but nod my head solemnly. Why did I have to sleep next to Leo? I get under the covers next to Rose as Leo does the same next to me.
I close my eyes trying to go to sleep but I can't, I eventually hear Leo and Roses breathing even out. I had started off sleeping with my back to Leo but now I shifted so that I was facing the ceiling. I rested my hands on my stomach as I looked up at the ceiling. What were we doing, running away? I need to stop my dad but I know I'm not strong enough, Leo is though, he killed my brother without a second thought. Could I watch him kill my father?
"Can't sleep," Leo whispers, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I thought you were asleep," I say softly, looking over at him. His green eyes almost seem to shine in the dark and I can't pull my gaze away from them.
"I'm a good fake sleeper, I guess," He smiles softly and I think it might be the first time he genuinely smiled and not smirked.
"What are we doing?" I ask as I turn my gaze back to the ceiling.
"Running, we need to find more people to support us before we go up against your father."
"I... I don't want to kill my father." I look at him and he just stares back. "I know we have too but I just... he is still my dad."
"I understand."
"I'm sorry that he killed your family, I never knew he could be so cruel."
"It's not your fault." He says and I look over at him again and he looks over at me. We stare at each other for a little before he moves his face closer to me and then our lips meet. It's a slow and patient kiss that only lasts for a couple of seconds before I break away.
"We can't be doing this Leo."
"I know," He says and then he turns away from me and my heart breaks. I want him but I could never have him. Our world is messed up, our lives our messed up.
Leo was a kid when he witnessed his family's murder and it breaks my heart to see how much that moment changed him. A single tear slips out of my eye as I turn away from him too and back to Rose.
We can't ever be together, I can't be with him and he can't be with me, it will never be me and him, it will never be us. I close my eyes and this time I fall asleep dreaming about what could have been.
