[3rd POV]

Rui and (Y/N) have been inseparable since childhood. Two peas in a pod as they say. One outgoing and the other more reserved. All throughout their childhood (Y/N) devoted herself to protecting Rui from whatever was to come.

"Rui! Do you think we're soulmates in every Universe?!" The young girl asked her best friend as they sat underneath a tree, stargazing.

Her purple haired friend laughed. "That's a silly question, but I sure do hope we are. I couldn't imagine living without my best friend."

(Y/N) hugged her purple haired friend as they continued to watch the shooting stars from (Y/N's) vacation home.

Middle school is what some people consider the "worst years" of their life. Having to deal with maturing and finding your own social group can be quite challenging for many individuals.

This proved to be true for Rui.

Not many kids of his age invented robots or knew technology at an advanced level. This caused him to have difficulty finding his own social group and made him be alone for most of the time.

The opposite can be said about (Y/N).

Quickly she made friends with everyone, establishing friendships wherever she went. Ask anyone and they'd reply with "I like her" or "She's nice company."

Even with all these friends, her friend group consisted of only one person, Rui.

They'd always spend their time together after school, whether it be building robots or just chatting, they continued to be the inseparable duo.

As time went on, the seasons change but so do feelings. One summer after going to (L/N's) vacation home in the country, the (H/C) haired girl found something change in her.

Whenever she'd see Rui, her heart would flutter, she'd become more nervous and her face would turn a bright pink.

On that summer day, Rui and (Y/N) hung near the playground swings. The breeze was cool as a large tree casted a nice shadow over them. The sound of cicadas buzzing could be heard throughout the park.

Further down the road, the sight of the sparking waters of the beach could be seen from where they were located at.

It was days like these that made (Y/N) believe life couldn't get any better. She had friends and most importantly, she had Rui.

Picking a leaf out of Rui's rather long hair, (Y/N) let out a subtle laugh. "Do you think we're soulmates in every Universe?"

Just like years prior, Rui chuckled, "There are many possibilities. Every Universe is different, but I sure do hope one thing stays the same; that we are together in every single one."

Those words caused a realization for the (H/C) haired girl. After denying her own feelings, she finally figured out what she felt.

She loved Rui more than anything.
