Upon entering the apartment, my gaze lands on Fred's body that's sprawled out on the ground. "Fred!" I shriek and even that didn't seem to make any part of his features flinch. George leans against the wall, removing his arm from my shoulders as I collapse beside his still brother.
His skin is dusted in dirt and there's a slice through his eyebrow that drips blood down the side of his face, soaking the collar of his shirt. Little did I know that his scratch was nothing compared to the sight when I examined the rest of his body. His stomach is drenched in the metallic liquid, allowing an iron scent to cloud the air around us.
George's eyes glaze over in horror and without a second thought, he slides to the ground on the other side of Fred. "Freddie, please wake up, please, please." He begs and I spot tears forming at the corners of his eyes, his attention diverted from
his injuries.
In a panicked state, I try to recall any spell or charm that could help him and his wounds. It was at that moment that I remembered seeing the Sectumsempra offensive spell that would allow anyone to fatally injure their opponent if left untreated and it's counter curse was written alongside it; Vulnera Sanentur: a healing charm that would reverse the effects of any injury inducing curse.
I rapidly pull out my wand and hover the tip of it above the soaked fabric; I hadn't realized it was there since it had spread across most of the clothing, preventing me from recognizing it to not be its true color. I begin whispering the healing charm and my eyes grow amazed as all the blood returns back into his body, leaving no trace of it behind on his clothes or the floor.
His eyes limply flutter open, allowing his gaze to wander the room before landing on George and I wearing hopeful expressions. "What's happened?" Fred asks in a hoarse tone as he attempts to sit up on his forearms, but I urge him to lie down for a little while longer so he's able to build up a bit more strength.
"You're alright, don't worry about it." I whisper comfortingly to him while I place a pillow underneath his head. Although he acted as if he was completely normal, it was clear in his actions that he was drained and his attention was set on my every movement when I brushed his hair from his forehead.
"Why're you crying?" He asks softly, exerting most of his remaining energy to brush away a tear from my cheekbone that had involuntarily fallen.
"I'm just happy." I muster up a subtle smile to reassure the boy, but his features stay troubled. The frigid sensation of his matching ring presses gingerly against my skin as he cups my face comfortingly, sliding his thumb across the surface.
"Y/n, we can't stay here." George informs me in a trembling voice and I now realize that his attention is out the window, clutching his knee that had somehow been victim to a minor injury during the chaos.
I fly to my feet and a death eater mask is being worn by a man who stands with his hands clutched together in front of the shop. "You both have to go. Now." I advise them sternly.
"Fred's way too weak to apparate." He states, analyzing his twin who barely stays conscious throughout all of this.
"Where's the nearest fireplace?"
"On the first floor, but it's visible through the windows." He concludes, "There's no way we'd get past without them noticing. It's a death wish."
"So is staying here." I ponder for a moment and instruct George to take Fred's other arm around his shoulders.
"You can't be serious."
"I have a plan, don't think on it. We just need to get you two to the floo." I insist as we begin down the stairs after scoping the windows beforehand.
